In episode 2 of the RAF Bomber Command, ‘Roger’ and ‘Boil’ describe the buildup needed to equip bomber units to take the fight to the enemy through the personal accounts of ‘Boil’s’ Grandfather, Frank Griggs. Frank began his journey in Australia, volunteering to be a navigator, but was then ordered to be a pilot in the Empire Training Scheme. After initial training Frank sailed to Canada to complete pilot training in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Then sailing to England, Frank trained to fly the Wellington Bomber. Through his tour, Frank flew missions across Europe, culminating in is his final mission in the Wellington, attacking German Battlecruisers in the daring Channel Dash.
