    播客中我讨论了一下我时隔三年回亚洲的感想,以及关于个人发展的一点想法,我还加上了一些我在亚洲旅行时拍摄的片段。

#5 Why do I love Shanghai? Why did I leave Shanghai? 为什么我爱上海?我又为什么离开了上海?

#5 Why do I love Shanghai? Why did I leave Shanghai? 为什么我爱上海?我又为什么离开了上海?

I have deep affection for Shanghai, just like many others. The city captivates me with its incredible diversity, inclusivity, convenience, and rich cultural heritage. Strolling from the picturesque banks of the Huang Pu River to the splendid Jing An Si, I relish the energetic atmosphere that encompasses both towering skyscrapers and historic architectures dating back eight decades.

However, I am among those who have made the decision to leave Shanghai. My motivation stems from a desire to reclaim ownership of my time and lead a simpler life. Rather than being engulfed by consumerism, I seek solace in being surrounded by nature.

Although I have mixed emotions, I still yearn for Shanghai and cherish the memories it holds.

The five words we will cover in this episode are: “多亏了”, “包容性”, “类型”, “消费主义“, and ”精致”.

#4 Why China's English ability is lagging behind? 为什么中国人的英文不好?

It appears that China is facing challenges in terms of English proficiency. According to the EF EPI 2022 (English Proficiency Index, which primarily focuses on non-English-native countries), China is ranked 62nd out of 111 countries and regions, placing it in the "Low Proficiency" category. In contrast, the country I currently reside in, the Netherlands, ranks at the top. So, why is there such a stark contrast?

Let's delve into my first-hand experiences of living in both countries and explore the surprising factors behind this discrepancy!

The five words we will cover in this episode are: “有意思”, “绝大部分”, “诸如”, “国际化“, and ”有钱人”.
