Love These Guys

I’ve been hooked on RWT since the first episode I listened to (on Stranger Things). I feel like I’ve fallen into my own kind with these Christian film-lovers who can’t help geeking out over good stories. My work routine allows me to listen to music/podcasts, so I’m pumped to go to work because that means I get the chance to listen to another episode of RWT! I highly recommend subscribing to Reel World Theology if you: 1. Like storytelling 2. Like movies and TV shows 3, Love Jesus and can’t help asking deeper questions about entertainment. God bless this podcast :)
Great conversations about film...

Mikey and his friends have created quite the film and theology empire at Reel World Theology. Their podcasts are great whether it's the one that covers current film or Reel World Rewind that reviews classics. When they're not doing great podcasts, they're producing great content at their website. Highly recommend.
Great premise

While there are some episodes that lean heavy to one side, this podcast manages to walk a difficult line by balancing sophisticated film critique with discussions of Christian life and theology. The strength of the podcast is primarily Mikey's ability to moderate discussion by stepping back to let the rotating guests speak, encouraging healthy disagreement, and offering his own thoughts and insights at just the right time. The second strength is the structure: the rotating guests keep it from getting stale and predictable, and there's a good chance that you'll find your favorites in both sense of humor and thought after listening for awhile. All in all, a great show, and it has helped me think much more deeply about film.
Good stuff.

I've been listening to Reel World since their 10th or 15th podcast. This Reel World does a great job of mixing faith/theology/critique of current films. These guys are great at carrying on good conversations which you feel like you're there with them talking about it.

Perhaps 20-30 episodes in I gave this podcast a 4/5. My central critique at the time was that it was a little light on theology for having that in their title. Since then they have done a nice job of ramping that phase up without sacrificing any film commentary. Mikey brings on a wide variety of guests that really do their homework and always bring terrific comments. They dig deep into things and often highlight themes or specific details of a film in relation to theology that I hadn't noticed at all. They're a 5/5 for sure. This is in the top tier of film discussion from a Christian perspective.
This show is reel!

I’ve listened and participated on the show. For the fact of the matter, I would listen even if I wasn’t an occasional contributor. Mike forms great discussions with the team of reviewers that are first rate! Check out the archive for films you’re interested for starters.
Great Discussion on How to Get More from Our Entertainment Consumption
04.01.2015
I discovered the Reel World Theology podcast via one of James Harleman’s appearances. I’ve been a fan and follower of his work with Cinemagogue for a few years now and it has really changed the way that I look at film (and other entertainment consumption). Mikey and the group here don’t hide the fact that they drew inspiration from James’ work and that’s perfectly okay because they are doing a bang up job. I always enjoy the conversation and thoughtfulness of material covered and this is my #1 podcast right now. They are a little light on the theology at times but I think that’s probably a good thing and allows for more listeners to feel comfortable. This isn’t meant to be a pulpit. If you’re a film fan who loves talking about movies and would like to dive into a little more meaningful than just the technical aspects of a movie, this is the podcast for you.
Fantastic Film Podcast

Inspired and straight out of the mold of Cinemagogue, Reel World Theology blazes a new path in engaging movies and film and bringing light to the themes and narratives that shape the movies we watch. Keep up the great work Fizz, you're an inspiration and an engaging and thoughtful movie reviewer!
