What a gift to wake up to this excerpt this morning. Never knew the NYT failed to publish the canonical letter by Rev. Dr. MLK Jr from the Birmingham Jail. To be extremists in love, especially given the current climate in which we live, is a poignant echo carried forward in time by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Thank you.

William Harvey Carney

I’m not sure why this wasn’t mentioned, but the movie “Glory” (1989) is a marvelous depiction of the regiment in which Carney served (the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry). Although he played a different character in the film than Carney, it did win Denzel Washington a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award. Definitely worth seeing for a fuller picture of the role these men played.

I love this little podcast. It’s almost like CBS Sunday morning‘s almanac but every weekday. Sure it doesn’t go into too much detail but that’s really what’s great about it. It gives you ideas of things that you might want to read and learn more about, and a beautiful point of reflection to wake up to each day.
Thank you so much John and team I hope you keep this up.
