Reframing Chronic Illness
Reframing Chronic Illness is a podcast that flips the common narrative surrounding chronic illness on its head. I’m your host, Alana Holloway; Chronic Illness Coach to folk who want to live life in a way that honours both their health and their dreams. I wholeheartedly disagree that chronic illness means that there's something wrong with you and you need fixing. Actually, I believe that, as a response to circumstance and experience, your chronic illness is a sign of your body doing exactly what it’s been designed to do. I also believe that your chronic illness holds the information and wisdom you need to help you on your healing journey. It’s your inner guidance system and when you allow it to teach you the language of your body, life feels easier, more joyful and fulfilling. There’s so much more to this story…it’s time to dive into the podcast! Here is the missing piece we’ve needed in the chronic illness community for so long. No one tells you how to construct your life when you’re given a long lasting illness. We’ve had some wonderful writers like Toni Bernhard and Linda Noble Topf who have forged the way to a place where we can have some of the most important first discussion about living with disease. But this podcast takes the next step. Living with vitality and volition and normalcy in a place that the world around us constantly tries to tell us we can’t. I’ve only started listening to this one, but I’m signed up for the newsletter and would someday like to get the coaching. So happy that Alana Holloway has joined the much needed community of teachers who help us live with a sense of ownership and dignity. Thank you, Alana. Please keep up the good work. You are truly appreciated.

I really can’t begin to describe how wonderful this podcast has been. This is truly a serious gem. It is SO hard to find podcasts about chronic illness that is both validating, encouraging, realistic, and helpful. So many podcasts seem to promise a cure or quick fix. Not here. Every episode I’ve listened to has made me so both so seen, heard, and encouraged. Alana’s balance of validation and encouragement is such a gift and talent. I am so thankful for Alana’s wisdom and encouragement. Thank you so much for the work you do. It has blessed me tremendously!
I feel seen.

I listened to my first episode today and learned more than I have from a dozen other podcasts. After 23 years with chronic illness, I don’t need a pep talk, encouragement about how resilient and strong I am, or “this too shall pass” kind of stuff…and I got none of that from this podcast. Instead I heard from people like me, who taught me that I need more support. I’m going to look into more resources and ask for help in new ways.
