U.S. Olympian Leslie Maxie is GOOD AS GOLD on this episode of REINVENTED with Jen Eckhart! Leslie is a 1988 U.S. Olympian, media professional and entrepreneur who is no stranger to achievement and pushing herself to optimal performance. She’s held world records in the 4 hundred-meter hurdle, excelled in track and became a 4-time All-American runner while at USC and went on to represent the U.S. at the Olympics! But it didn’t stop there… she went on to reinvent herself from the track to pursue a successful career at Fox Sports and ESPN having covered a number of events such as the Super Bowl, NASCAR and the Tour de France. However, her success has not come without her share of hardships.
Leslie now serves as an inspiration to those overcoming their own hurdles in life. Jen and Leslie discuss her personal mantra, "excellence is not an accident," the personal racial barriers she overcame, failing to make the Olympics on her first try and what inspired her to never give up, her struggle with mental health as well as Simone Biles. The duo also discuss Leslie's 'Not Your Mamas 50' movement that she co-founded with with #MeToo movement founder, Tarana Burke. Leslie also shares her unfiltered thoughts on her first national interview with 3-time MVP, 14-time All-Star, Yankees World Series Champion turned investor and entrepreneur Alex Rodriguez!
