Commercials
The intro/out-tro on Allie’s commercials are absolutely horrible. The corny music and the timing of them makes it impossible to listen to even when a very interesting guest is on. Figure out a better way to do your commercials. Its like nails on a chalkboard
Inaccurate information
Unfortunately, the episode discussing “bad therapy” provided false, inaccurate, and concerning opinions based on the host/guest’s wildly misconstrued understandings of what therapeutic practice actually is.
While I agree that some clinicians do not actually practice therapy, and can unknowingly reinforce victimization/enable “magical thinking” and grandiose delusions, as the episode continues it is evident that the guest does not know that these enablers are NOT, in fact, acting as true therapists.
The guest makes blatantly false statements about therapeutic practice, and very sadly, never bothered to do true research and learn what therapy is. It is very clear that neither the host nor guest bothered to observe evidence based practice or any of the theories (Polyvag, Jungian, Eriksonian…etc) that therapeutic practice was based on. They make false accusations of the practice and claim that therapy does not incorporate discipline or accountability. In reality, these are the core constructs of behavioral health.
It is very concerning to me that the guest/host belittled and disrespected an entire profession that they clearly do not understand. That this host could reinforce ideas undermining a practice that has been clinically proven for many years to effectively modify self destructive/narcissistic/compulsive-impulsive/abusive/addictive behavior deeply concerns me, and I’m afraid this false information could cause a lot of harm to children and families.
