Remnants is a dark fantasy thriller audio drama following the Apprentice as he learns how to read remnants under the frustrating supervision of Sir. Remnants are seemingly innocuous objects – a broken pocket watch; a steel thimble; a silk scarf – but when the Apprentice looks closely, he sees how each one holds the remnants of someone’s life story. Each week the Apprentice reads a new remnant, following that person’s journery beginning to end. When he’s done, he must make a judgement; shelve or discard. But he doesn’t know what the criteria is or what the consequences of such a judgement might be. The more remnants the Apprentice reads, the more we begin to understand the magnitude of the task he has been set. And the more both we, and the Apprentice himself, wonder why it is him who has been chosen to do it. With every week, a new mystery. With every new mystery, a terrible choice. I can always count on remnants to get me crying in the best way. Sad tears, happy tears, and everything in-between, remnants has it all. Each episode is listen-worthy on its own, but the fact that they all come together for a larger story just takes the show to another level. Love hanging sloth studios!

Been a fan of this creator for a while now and this show proves another hit is just beginning. Get on this show while the episode count is low and you won’t be disappointed.

I absolutely love the show! It’s always my go to recommendation when people are asking about what audio dramas I’m listening to. The only challenge is that there are usually very heavy topics discussed in each episode and sometimes it catches me offguard when I’m on the road headed to work. A quick content, warning at the beginning I think could be really helpful for me when deciding whether or not I’m in a good head space to listen. ❤️

I love this show! I’m going to be re-listening to this show often. It’s a really good blend of hints to the overarching mystery while also having really engaging individual stories. Like I could spend hours listening to each story. I would probably be in tears (I haven’t cried yet—thankfully since I mainly listen during my commute). I’m really fascinated by the world and can’t wait to find out what is going on.
