Revolutionizing Retirement and Maximizing Your Bonus Years with Dorian Mintzer

Revolutionizing Retirement and Maximizing Your Bonus Years with Dorian Mintzer

Today’s guest is Dorian Mintzer. Dorian is a world-class retirement coach, a doctor of philosophy, and the founder of Revolutionize Retirement.
Dorian believes that our bonus years are a time to learn, grow, and evolve–and that we need to live our lives with intention, not regrets. She helps her clients discover their gifts, live their purpose, and make a difference in their world. As new parents in their fifties and sixties, she and her husband are also living proof that there’s no “one size fits all” transition, and that retirement is a journey and not a destination.
She’s also the co-author of The Couple’s Retirement Puzzle: 10 Must-Have Conversations for Creating an Amazing New Life Together, where she explores how couples can continue to earn money, stay engaged in life, and remain happy together.
In today’s conversation, we dive into what exactly it means to revolutionize retirement, how to navigate major life transitions (and why people come to her for help), and the difference between “getting old” and “becoming complete.”

Thought Provoking Retirement Planning Resource

I recently found Casey's "Retire With Purpose" podcast and find it to be very helpful. He is a great podcast host and discusses relevant retirement topics and trends with various experts in finance and retirement. The information I learn helps me to make better financial decisions to fulfill my retirement goals. I found the Social Security, life insurance and withdrawal strategy topics very interesting. These shows challenged me to reconsider my retirement strategy.

Nice job on inflation vs. stocks

I know this issue is not as simple as looking at long term averages. Inflation is challenging. Although stocks enjoy a party at the beginning of that cycle, they eventually falter dur to higher yields on safer securities. That said, you are right that investors can’t hide in cash during this period. Would love to have a conversation about this.

Revolutionizing retirement and Maximizing Your Bonus Years

As one who is approaching retirement and expect to make this transition with the next five years, I must say I thoroughly found the conversation with Ms. Mintzer to be both informative and quite eye-opening. Reinventing and redefining what “traditional” retirement mean and entails especially spoke to me as I continue along this personal journey. How I approach my “bonus” years and what they will mean moving forward caused me to pause and consider all that this phase of life will look like. Additionally, as one who will be taking this journey with my wife, her focus upon the essential conversations that the two of us need to have with one another and others within our family were quite helpful as well. So overall, I found this show to be invaluable in a number of ways.
