Episode 004 – Mobile RFID Readers & A Chat With Turck

This week on RFID Insider, our own Max Morgan with atlasRFIDstore sits down to discuss mobile RFID readers in segment one. And in segment two, Jordan Segraves of Turck joins us to discuss their affordable, user-friendly handheld reader, the Turck PD20 (previously called the U Grok It Grokker). RFID readers are a necessary component of an RFID system. There are several different kinds of readers with varying capabilities which make selecting the right reader for your application a challenging step. Among the several different kinds are mobile RFID readers. Mobile readers expand the reach of RFID by enabling users to travel outside of the parameters of a standard system. But with enhanced flexibility, comes a multitude of factors that impact which mobile reader is best for you. In segment one, Max discusses several of these factors and breaks down some high-level features and capabilities of mobile RFID readers. In an interview with Jordan Segraves of Turck, Suzanne and Jordan discuss the price benefits, ease-of-use, and attributes of the Turck PD20 handheld reader in segment two. Jordan outlines the important first steps after receiving your PD20 and through some Q&A, covers many of the features that make the PD20 a crowd-pleaser. Some highlights are the PD20’s compatibility with Android and Apple devices, the free, intuitive apps Turck provides to empower your PD20, and it’s cost of only $500. ========================= Two Ways To Support The Show 1. Episode 001 – RFID Race Timing And Impinj Speedway Readers

In the first segment of our inaugural episode of RFID Insider, Timothy Pribyl joined us to talk about using RFID for timing marathons and other races. With the introduction of RFID, the race timing industry has completely changed and is growing faster than ever. Using RFID to time races has even expanded into different race types like kayak, car, cycle, and more. If you are new to RFID race timing or are interested in learning about how to get started in the industry, we discuss some great information about the industry in general. On the second half of the show, Eric Anderson from Impinj joins us to tell us about their newest product—the Impinj Speedway R120. This one-port reader has been well received from RFID users and contains some of the cool features, known collectively as Autopilot, that the Speedway series (R220 and R420) is known for like Autoset, Low Duty Cycle, and Dynamic Antenna Switching. The new reader, perfect for one or two read zone applications, adds to the high-quality line from Impinj and could be a great asset to an expanding RFID application. Don’t miss the ending, when Eric talks to us about TopGolf—an awesome new RFID application that is currently expanding across the world! Two Ways To Support The Show 1.
