Ian Snodin Special: Everton’s favourite Yorkshireman | Goodison Park: My Home

In our first Goodison Park: My Home interview published in 2025 – the year Everton finally depart the Grand Old Lady – we speak to the Blues’ favourite Yorkshireman Ian Snodin. Despite hailing from the other side of the Pennines, ‘Snods’ as he is affectionately known by Evertonians, became a True Blue and adored by the Goodison fanbase when snubbed Liverpool’s Kenny Dalglish to accept Howard Kendall’s offer to join the club in 1987. Ian’s decision was vindicated as he was rewarded with a League Championship medal in his first season on Merseyside and his hilarious tale about what happened to him on the way home from that title success clinched at Norwich City is worth watching the interview alone! He also speaks candidly about his upbringing in a mining community, his formative years in the game playing alongside his elder brother Glynn at Doncaster Rovers and the influence that Billy Bremner had on him both there and at Leeds United plus the varied role he now plays as an ambassador for Everton Football Club. DAVID MOYES INTERVIEW | FORMER MANAGER SET FOR EVERTON RETURN

Revisit our exclusive interview with David Moyes as the former Everton manager is set to return to Goodison Park for a second stint in charge at the club. Back in September 2024, Chris Beesley spoke to an extra special guest for the ninth episode of our Goodison Park: My Home series as he was joined by David Moyes, the longest serving and most successful Everton manager of the Premier League era. Meeting in Lancashire, the pair discuss the Scot’s reign of over 11 years as Blues boss as he steered them to nine top half finishes – including a club record fourth position in the Premier League in 2004/05 – feats that brought him a hat-trick of LMA Manager of the Year awards. Taking over a team that had finished in the top half just once in the first decade of the competition, a then 38-year-old Moyes arrived at Goodison Park in March 2002 and transformed a squad containing luminaries such as Paul Gascoigne and David Ginola into an upwardly mobile outfit with hungry young players. The Scot lifts the lid on why he chose Everton; his coining of the phrase ‘The People’s Club’, transfer buys; big characters; trophy regrets following the FA Cup final and European run plus many other memorable moments at a unique football venue that he always tried to get the best out of and which remains dear to his heart. I tried all the Everton pods under the sun. There’s a few others that are alright, but this is the cream of the crop. Love listening to every episode. Really makes me feel like part of the community even though I live far away. Thanks for all the great work!
