Royce White: Please, Call Me Crazy

I just listened to episode on Dec 30 about Musk and the HB1 visa situation. I have been a ‘statistical programmer’ in the clinical research industry for 30+ years. I have repeatedly said that I would not be able to thrive in my job as an American woman if I was beginning my career now. My industry is swamped with people on these visas. I would estimate 70-80% of my co-workers now are on these visas - mostly Indian and some Chinese. The Chinese usually come on student visas and then are hired into clinical research as statisticians or statistical programmers. Indians are predominantly programmers. They live in the states or stay in India. Nothing against them, but pharma and pharma research is full of visa related employees. Big pharma = big money and tied to the government.
