Skagit Storytellers

Skagit Storytellers is a podcast that's dedicated to entertaining the people who are recording it. If anyone else enjoys the episodes, that's cool too. There is no agenda, a lot of exaggerating and probably shouldn't be taken seriously. Recorded in several locations around the Skagit Valley. Skagit Storytellers is a subsidiary of 217 Digital LLC. S03 Ep011: Morgan McHugh

Morgan McHugh came over to chat with me about music, life and play some tunes. Follow him on IG and YT (@morganmchughmusic), listen to his music on Bandcamp, Spotify, etc. The song at the end of the episode was recorded at the Space Station in Bellingham and I recommend watching all of his performances during his one hour set here. The next big AMP event is the Rockin' Yule Bizarre on Saturday, Dec 21st at Buxton's. Kids are free and tickets for adults can be purchased here. Buy tix to Nicola's play at the Concrete Theatre here. Support a new non-profit in the Valley (Owen's Foundation) by purchasing tickets to the Jan 11th show (featuring Fanny Alger, Friends for the Ghost and more) at the Lincoln Theatre here. Enjoy your week, be of use, and go do something hard. Love music? Go to Washingtonesrecords.com and score some sweet merch, cool tunes and support locals following their passion. Also, if you love music, go see some rad live music at the Conway Muse. Love my intro song and my logo? Check out Clay Work. He is incredibly talented. He also hosts Trivia at Lyman Tavern on Tuesdays, and at District Brewing on Wednesdays. My kid and I like to draw and write. S03 Ep010: The Enthusiasts

I sat down with Andrew Velin and Sommer Velins Carter from the Anacortes band, The Enthusiasts. They hung out with me to talk about their new album, "To Rest a Field" and they also shared stories about their journey as musicians, how Andrew is younger than Sommer and AMP. Purchase the album at their next show on CD, or purchase and stream it here. Check out their social media pages for their next live event, and be sure to check on the Anacortes Music Project (AMP) events too. The next big AMP event is the Rockin' Yule Bizarre on Saturday, Dec 21st at Buxton's. Kids are free and tickets for adults can be purchased here. Enjoy your week, be of use, and go do something hard. 3. S03 Ep09: Benny Sidelinger

    S03 Ep09: Benny Sidelinger

Benny Sidelinger is a local musician... but listen in as he shares stories of life on the east coast, building guitars and touring extensively all over the continent. Also, find out which local musician he met first in the Valley and enjoy a good story about how he acquired his favorite banjo (in the episode, I told him he definitely needs to write a song about that, and he did shortly after we recorded). His new album, Cherry Street, just came out and you can find it on his website ( Bennysidelinger.com ). His next show is on January 16th at the Blue Room in Bellingham. The Blue Room is an all ages venue, so grab your parents and kids, and get your tickets here. Enjoy your week, be of use, and go do something hard. Love music? Go to Washingtonesrecords.com and score some sweet merch, cool tunes and support locals following their passion. Also, if you love music, go see some rad live music at the Conway Muse. 4. S03 Ep07: Natural Israel

    11月20日

    S03 Ep07: Natural Israel

Natural Israel shares stories of his childhood, how fun it is to be a dad and his evolution as a musician. I hadn't met Natural until he sat down in my studio, and these are my favorite types of conversations! He plays two great songs near the end, and I also included a song with him and his son. Check out Natural on Instagram @naturalisreal and his music on Spotify here. At the end of our conversation, you'll hear 4 year old Kai and his dad together. It's so breathtakingly cute. I hope this encourages other parents to record with their kids. Go see Natural and his band, the Bellfounders, on Nov 30th at the Blue Room (get your tickets here). His album release show for Hernamewasprincess is 11/22/24 at the Conway Muse. Buy your ticket here before it sells out. My kid and I like to draw and write. 5. S03 Ep06: Beth Bishop

    11月13日

    S03 Ep06: Beth Bishop

Beth Bishop is an Anacortes musician who dabbles in real estate, writing and parenting. She shares important childhood memories, how awesome her son Connor is, and even plays me a song. I appreciate Beth coming on the podcast and revealing moments of grief that she's experienced, and I think that her story, while not the average tale, has pieces that everyone can relate to. I'll be sure to post any upcoming gigs she has, but for a while, she'll be hunkering down and finishing her Master's degree in Fine Arts. Find her on IG here. Enjoy your week, be of use, and go do something hard. Love music? Go to Washingtonesrecords.com and score some sweet merch, cool tunes and support locals following their passion. 6. S03 Ep05: HerNameWasPrincess

    11月6日

    S03 Ep05: HerNameWasPrincess

Clay and Tim stop by the studio to make me laugh and talk about their new collaborative album. HerNameWasPrincess will be at the Muse on November 22nd along with good friends Friends for the Ghost and the Enthusiasts. Buy a ticket before it's too late here. If you're ever in need of a cool poster design, hit either of these two talented guys up. Lastly, we talk about the Sedro-Woolley Arts, Music and Performance group (the SWAMP) and I can't thank Clay and Wes Jones enough for starting this non-profit. Check out the latest The SWAMP news on their social media page here. A song from the new album, HG Cedars, closes out this historical podcast episode. Enjoy your week, be of use, and go do something hard. Love music? Go to Washingtonesrecords.com and score some sweet merch, cool tunes and support locals following their passion. 7. S03 Ep04: Phil Carter

    S03 Ep04: Phil Carter

Phil Carter is a local drummer from Bellingham, though, as we discovered on the podcast, he was born in Canada. I cut out hours of us talking about hockey, Tim Horton's and the Hip and left in some stories that Phil shared about touring, playing in his son's band, brushes with death and his current musical focus, Cory Vincent and the Electric Band. They are recording a live concert on 11/9/24 at the Muse in Conway. Grab your tickets here for this unique event (check out his bandmates' episodes too: Charlie, Cory). Phil's son is in a band called Spider Cult. Follow their Instagram here and support their upcoming gigs. Enjoy your week, be of use, and go do something hard. Love music? Go to Washingtonesrecords.com and score some sweet merch, cool tunes and support locals following their passion. Also, if you love music, go see some rad live music at the Conway Muse.
