S2E21. Negotiating for Faculty Positions

About, From, & With: An SLP Podcast

In this season finale episode, I chat with Dr. Tiffany Hogan, a Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, who shares her experiences and advice for negotiating for faculty positions. Dr. Hogan shares a faculty perspective on the negotiation process. She provides an overview of the process, explains how to prepare for negotiations, things to avoid doing during negotiations, and the types of things applicants can negotiate for. Dr. Hogan also provides examples of wording that can be used during the negotiation process to justify counter-offers. This episode is a must-listen for anyone preparing to negotiate for a faculty position for the first time! You can follow Dr. Hogan's work in the Speech and Language Literacy Lab (SAiL) and her podcast (SeeHearSpeak), on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
