Toward a More Just Future

Toward a More Just Future is a podcast from Rutgers School of Social Work. We envision a future for our world that is grounded in justice, and we are committed to leading for justice through a focus on innovation, excellence, collaboration, and community. Deeply grounded in inclusion, intersectionality, diversity, equity, and advancement, this podcast explores a variety of topics pertinent to social workers and social work students working towards progress. As Managing Director of the Institute for Families, Theresa McCutcheon leads a team of more than 80 professionals delivering a $19M portfolio of training, technical assistance and applied research projects advancing the human service and child welfare workforce. The Institute for Families advances the professional practice and knowledge base of individuals and organizations creating brighter futures for children, youth, and their caregivers. IFF provides training, technical assistance, and applied research and evaluation services. They move this important body of work forward through collaboration with public agencies, community-based organizations, national thought leaders, expert professionals and educators, and persons with lived experiences.     Today, our host, Samantha Michaele, is speaking with Chiara Sabina, associate professor at Rutgers School of Social Work, Chancellor’s Scholar for Inclusive Excellence in Interpersonal Violence Research, and Associate Director of the Center for Research on Ending Violence. Dr. Sabina’s research centers on interpersonal victimization, especially intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and dating violence among Latine community members. Founded in 2007 at the Rutgers School of Social Work, the Center for Research on Ending Violence, or REV, strives to eliminate all forms of violence and the power imbalances that permit them. REV accomplishes their mission through a collaborative approach that focuses on multidisciplinary research, education, and community engagement.     S4E2: In Conversation with Josue Hidalgo

    Today, our host, Samantha Michaele, is speaking with Josue Hidalgo, Project Coordinator at Rutgers School of Social Work. Josue has a B.A. in Psychology from Pillar College and an M.S.W. in Management and Policy from Rutgers University. Throughout his career, Josue has worked in different social work settings including domestic violence advocacy, immigrant rights advocacy, public library system and the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services. As a Project Coordinator within the Rutgers School of Social Work Center for Prevention Science, Josue dedicates most of his time to the Northeast and Caribbean Prevention Technology Transfer Center focused on providing technical assistance to New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
