Gauff seals WTA Finals Crown in Saudi stunner, Alcaraz defeated as ATP Finals begin

Tour finals galore! We're all back once again at Tennis Weekly HQ to look back on the past week of action, which saw Coco Gauff clinch the WTA Finals in Saudi Arabia in thrilling fashion (along with a tasty pay packet). Meanwhile, the ATP Finals got underway in Turin where Carlos Alcaraz suffered an opening defeat to Casper Ruud whilst the trio discuss Stefanos Tsitsipas’s recent social media comments on the new two week Masters 1000 format and argue over whether it should have a future on the circuit. Qualifiers Benjamin Bonzi and Denis Shapovalov also brought home the Metz and Belgrade titles respectively, and Britain’s Cam Norrie reached another ATP Final in a more positive end to a difficult season. Iga Swiatek is also in Malaga as the Billie Jean King Cup Finals begin, looking to end the season on a high after a tricky few months on tour. Young guns rise as Draper shines, Sharapova elected to Hall in Fame + Mouratoglou chat

British bonanza! We’re all back at Tennis Weekly HQ to look back on the last week on tour, which saw Jack Draper winning the biggest title of his career in Vienna and rising to a career high ranking of 15. Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard also made it a good week for this season’s breakthrough acts, winning Basel to capture his second title of the season too. Meanwhile, Qinwen Zheng continued her stellar season with more silverware in Tokyo and Olga Danilovic took home the Guangzhou trophy, six years after her maiden tour title. The trio are also joined by coach Patrick Mouratoglou to talk Ultimate Tennis Showdown Grand Finals as well as discuss the recent news of Maria Sharapova’s induction into the Tennis Hall of Fame and whether this is justified in light of her doping ban, and they reflect on the permanent addition of on court coaching to the ATP and WTA Tours as of January next year. Sabalenka on top again, Thiem's last dance in Vienna, Rafa & Novak's final battle

And another awesome rivalry comes to an end! This week, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic played their final match on a tennis court in Saudi Arabia at the Six Kings Slam to bring the curtain down on their epic head to head. Join Joel and Chris as they reflect on this match up along with all the other tennis talk from the week as Tommy Paul, Daria Kasatkina and a 36 year old (!) Roberto Bautista Agut won titles on the tour across Europe and Asia.  Chris also gives the inside scoop on what it’s like to attend the Nordic Open in Stockholm - and whether he was able to track down Magnus Norman for an interview. Elsewhere, Danielle Collins announced that she will play on the WTA Tour next year after postponing her end of season retirement, Aryna Sabalenka took over from Iga Swiatek as the World Number 1 at the top of the rankings, and we remark on Dominic Thiem’s last dance on a tennis court as he plays his final match at the Vienna Open. Nadal calls time on epic career, Sabalenka + Sinner shine again, Wimbledon's tech overhaul

Get the tissues ready! Joel, Kim and Chris are back together to catch up on all things tennis, leading with the hot story that legend of the game Rafa Nadal will be hanging up his rackets in retirement at the end of this season. They reflect on this sad news as well as looking back on the past week’s tournaments which saw Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka continue their hot streaks and pick up the titles in Shanghai and Wuhan respectively. In other news, the trio debate the news from The AELTC that Wimbledon will replace line judges with electronic calling from 2025 and moving the weekend singles finals to a late afternoon slot. Plus they review the now confirmed line up for the WTA Finals in Saudi Arabia, and controversial player behaviour - or as we like to call it men behaving badly - comes under the spotlight in the Mailbag section. Alcaraz snatches Sinner win, WADA seeks Italian ban + Wimbledon plans get greenlight

The Asian swing is in full flow and what a treat we had in Beijing as Carlos Alcaraz battled back from the brink to defeat World Number 1 Jannik Sinner in a final set tiebreak. And that wasn't even the biggest news of the week for the Italian who expressed his 'surprise' at the World Anti-Doping Agency looking for a lengthy ban over his positive drug tests. Elsewhere in Beijing, the WTA has reached the quarter-finals stage as Sabalenka continues to run riot whilst Paula Badosa is also making a charge up the ranking towards the Top 10. But there was despair for Naomi Osaka who retired against Coco Gauff with a back injury. And finally, there was more positive news for Wimbledon as they got the green light for a 39 court expansion with their ambition to create a three week festival of tennis in SW19. As always, Joel and Chris delve into the mailbag to talk Saudi exhibitions and one of our trickiest Mysterious Players yet.
