My dearest Sebastian and Company, I only just recently discovered your podcast after having made it half way through Mystics, Magic, and Monasteries. Somehow, through the egregorian algorithm of the internet, Providence stepped in and presented your episode Deep Magic - the Highest Mariology. What can I say? At the end of the podcast I was overwhelmed with the “gift of tears”. Wonder, joy, and sadness grafted together into a communion I cannot faithfully describe or explain. Eucatastrophe? What instantly jumped out to me was a passage from Tomberg: “Inspiration, truth to tell, is what constitutes the hermetic community. It is inspiration which is the link between its members and within which all its members meet one another. The community of inspiration – this is what in reality the community of Hermaticists is.” —Tomberg, Meditations, Temperance p.397 I’ve now listened to two other episodes. In each one—and in your book, Sebastian—I can palpably perceive a shared kinship in inspiration with you. And truth be told, I have never realized how lonely it has been for me. To share in these insights, to have read such similar literature and draw such similar conclusions and gain such similar perspective… and to not know it up until now! The relief to my soul that this discovery has procured I am simply unable to exegete. It has been such a long time, after having read your work on Aquinas, and following Symposia, that I’ve wanted to reach out to you and express my deepest gratitude for what you are doing. You’re accomplishing the Lord’s Work, conducting the sacred magic, wielding the secret fire. I hope this finds you well, and if you should like to reach out for any reason—and I do mean ANY reason—if you inquire of the Gentle Traditionalist my details I pray he is kind enough to oblige you.
