Another new dawn

Up to 20 jobs could go as the Union implements a restructure aimed at saving £5m a year to make the professional game in Wales financially stable. Tierney also reveals they are close to appointing a new Director of Rugby and have already spoken to potential candidates to be their next men's head coach.

Lauren and GRO can be a bit pompous and condescending at times. And I have to laugh at the pretentious decision to get rid of the distinctive “Good podcast!” intro. It’s like when Dos Equis got rid of the popular “Most Interesting Man in the World” character because of some nebulous belief among the corporate suits that it was “time for a change.” The company ended up outsmarting itself by failing to come up with anything new that was as good or memorable as that character. Now no one pays much attention at all to Dos Equis or Dos Equis commercials - and if the Scrum V podcast isn’t careful, the same fate may soon await it.

I don’t miss these rugby podcasts here in Pennsylvania - Gareth and Nicky do a great job with interesting guests. The Scott Baldwin interview was award winning. Ideal company for a Tredegar boy far from home.

Love the pod, great fun and the occasional keen insight... the hosts are knowledgeable but light-hearted, and it’s worth a listen if for the accents alone (at least, as an American.) Thanks for the great work!
