Ep. 13 - Dave Olsen & Shane Rowley with Nimbl – Fitness Finance: Don’t Beat Yourself Up For What You Don’t Know

A lot of small business owners struggle with getting accurate financial information because it requires specific knowledge, accuracy, and more than anything, time. And they can’t afford a full-time CFO or even a bookkeeper to do the work… so they end up feeling stuck and struggling when it comes to taking control of the financial health of their business. Dave Olsen and Shane Rowley, Co-founders of Nimbl Accounting Services, both know the pains of running a small business all too well. They also know how crucial it is to get accurate financial information to make the best decisions to grow your business. Helping small business owners has always been their passion and led them to start Nimbl. A full-services accounting company that serves NPE clients in the USA & Canada.
Dave started his career in public accounting and served as CFO to many start-up and venture companies in Canada. Shane, on the other hand, started as a tax specialist in Utah and helped small business owners save on taxes. Dave and Shane met three years ago when Dave was already up and running with a new business model for providing all kinds of financial services to many small companies. They saw a huge demand helping small business owners solve accounting and finance challenges and they officially rebranded to become what Nimbl is today.

Ep. 12 – Len Fridman – If Someone Else Has Done It, You Can Do It Too

Ep. 12 – Len Fridman – If Someone Else Has Done It, You Can Do It Too

When Len left his corporate career as a Senior IT Manager over a decade ago, he had to make a decision to either go back to a corporate job or pursue his real passion. He decided to start his own bootcamp transforming lives through fitness. As he became more successful, Len began to train more clients, recruit new instructors, and the community expanded very quickly. He discovered some ‘secrets’ for filling his bootcamps with creative marketing campaigns so in 2012 he created a system to help other fitness businesses fill their group classes. Before he knew it, his new marketing business began to grow even more serving fitness businesses all over Canada and the USA.
Len and his business partner Sasha began to focus on helping studio owners to solve more problems with scheduling, collecting payments, and more. This evolved their fitness marketing business into a software company and WellnessLiving was officially born. Today, WellnessLiving is one of the biggest players in the industry, growing exponentially every year since 2016.

Ep. 11 – Nancy Townsend – Resilience Wins: Stay Strong With Whatever Comes At You

Ep. 11 – Nancy Townsend – Resilience Wins: Stay Strong With Whatever Comes At You

Back in 2014, Nancy was a struggling fitness instructor. She was commuting 3-4 hours every day to train clients at their home, going through 200 hours of yoga training, and ended up getting rear-ended twice in the span of three months that caused her scoliosis. She was physically and mentally tired but driven to open her own studio so she could stop commuting and her clients could now come to her to train.
That’s when she met NPE. Within 13 months and with the help of NPE coaches, she courageously opened her own studio in Washington D.C. (one of the most expensive cities in the U.S.). She had a great start at $9k per month in revenue, but a flood with 20,000 gallons of hot water poured onto her studio in 2018. Repair, insurance, business operations…. everything became a struggle again.
Finding resilience no matter what came at her helped her stay focused on achieving her goals. By the end of last year, she had her best month ever at $34k a month in revenue!

Ep. 10 – Josh Cherry and Robby Marlow – From Bootcamp in the Park to 73+ Franchise Locations

Back in 2009, Josh Cherry and Robby Marlow started a bootcamp in a parking lot training friends and family members for a few years, but ultimately didn’t know where to go from there. They soon reached out to NPE and worked their way through all program levels within just a few years time, being named NPE Members of the Year in 2015 while growing to 25 licensed locations across the USA. Today, they’ve now grown Delta Life Fitness to the fastest growing women’s fitness franchise with over 73 locations sold in the United States and are on track to hit 100 units this year (a feat only about 4% of franchises ever achieve)!

Career saver!

I was so excited to become a personal trainer and start changing lives, but when I got my certification I quickly found I had no clear vision for exactly how I was going to do that, who I was going to do it for, or where I was going to find them. Not to mention, I only knew technical training theory and only had an elementary understanding of business strategy. I had no mentors or supportive community to even point me in the right direction. I began to think I was doomed to fail. I’ve been so scared and self conscious, floating in a sea of competition that seems to know how to do everything I don’t. It almost seemed hopeless... until NPE came into my life and offered me an answer to every single one of my questions!!! Words cannot express the relief and excitement I feel for my future in this industry! I can’t wait to devour every last scrap of content 😭
