He describes how the role and responsibilities of security professionals have evolved as our understanding of trauma-informed care has grown. Mr. Miller talks about de-escalation approaches that try to minimize physical intervention, and how the profile of strong candidates for the security role has evolved to include the ability to connect easily with patients and families. And he discusses the need for security professionals to have their own resources and post-incident debriefs to support their wellbeing.
