Together they are well known for their sacred chants to the plant medicine of the Awakolla. Narayan is a fellow a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda and a beloved teacher with Ananda Worldwide. At Swami Kriyananda’s request, (Founder of Ananda) Narayan and his wife Dharmadevi moved to Los Angeles and became the spiritual directors of Ananda Los Angeles in 2010. Prior to that, they lived at Ananda Village in Northern California. There, Narayan helped manage the publishing arm of Ananda, called Crystal Clarity. Narayan and Dharmadevi were made Ananda ministers, Lightbearers, and Kriyacharyas by Nayaswami Jyotish. And earlier this year they were called back to the Ananda Village community where they now continue to serve through Crystal Clarity publishing.    The conversation opens in learning about the history and high-minded principles of Ananda Village which is a thriving spiritual community of over 250 residents that was established in 1969 and is rooted in the teachings of Awakened Master Paramhansa Yogananda.     This week our guest is artist and devotee Robert Ryan (who also known by his Sanskrit name Shivanesh) Robert is a renown tattoo artist at ‘Electric Tattoo’ in Asbury Park New Jersey with over 25 years of experience. He’s also an incredibly prolific Bhakti painter with a distinct style that finds its roots in American traditional tattoo art, that is uniquely blended with the Indian street painting style of Calcutta India known as Kalighat Painting. Robert is a highly disciplined spiritual practitioner, kirtan musician, and devoted disciple of his Guru. In this episode I’m absolutely thrilled for this opportunity to talk with Robert about his latest artistic manifestation the ‘Tantra Esoterica’ Tarot Deck and Guidebook. Together we explore the universal nature of the Tarot, along with its deep symbolism and how to utilize this ancient technology to help guide and inspire us on our own quest for greatness, no matter where we are in our journey. We also talk about the creative muse that fully captivated Robert during this project and what it took to channel the 78 hand painted images for the deck and to publish a full guidebook with in-depth insights for each card within just a single year while also tattooing clients regularly.     Our guest today is renown visionary artist Chris Dyer. In this conversion we dive deeply into Chris’ life, philosophy, personal beliefs, and the creation process behind his latest painting which is a self-portrait that symbolically tells the tale of his journey as an artist and depicts some of his tests and trials, and the lessons he’s learned along the way. We talk about how being an artist gives us a license to be “crazy” and to believe and express what we want in our lives without worrying about fitting in society’s norms. We explore his beliefs around Sasquatches as a reincarnated alien race and his perspectives about the future of this planet, as the old systems are crumbling and making way for the new. We have a fun conversation about superheroes, supervillains, and the power of stories and mythological archetypes to help us to become better humans. We share perspectives around ChatGPT and Ai generated art, and how these new tools are affecting our lives as professional artists. Chris has also been a relentless world traveler over the years, painting murals and hosting workshops around the world.
