Shaquille O'Neal discusses relationship with Kobe, LeBron's GOAT resume, best Lakers and best big men
It's our biggest guest yet! Literally and figuratively. Shaquille O'Neal joins Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden on All Things Covered to chat about Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, today's NBA and much more (36:30). But first, P2 and BMac chop it up. They recall their fondest memories of college bowl season (1:20), before making picks for the College Football Playoff (6:55). Alabama and Clemson are the favorites, but can they both win and cover? Next, the guys focus on the Arizona Cardinals, who essentially have a Week 17 playoff game. Pat breaks down the opportunity of a win-and-you're-in game and looks ahead to the Rams matchup (10:45) LA will be missing Jared Goff and starting John Wolford for the first time, which could present a unique set of challenges. He also updates us on the status of Kyler Murray and his readiness for this Sunday. Our hosts turn their attention to what's happening around the league with a focus on Dwayne Haskins (20:30). On a related note, Booger McFarland made some controversial comments about Black athletes pursuing their brand over on-field performance and that didn't sit well with BMac. After the serious stuff, we welcome the legendary and hilarious Shaquille O'Neal to All Things Covered (36:30). Shaq shares how difficult 2020 was and insight on his relationship with Kobe Bryant. The Diesel also details what he's like as a "sports dad" with his son Shareef currently playing at LSU. The Big Aristotle remembers linking up with Phil Jackson and the promises the Zen Master made to get him to the next level. Superman then talks about the King's quest to pass Kareem in all-time points scored and match Michael Jordan in titles, letting us in on LeBron's mindset. Shaq Fu goes on to cover his role in the media, the state of big men in today's NBA and the ongoing James Harden saga. As we always do, we end with Superlatives and get to hear O'Neal's Top 5 Lakers ever and more!
