She Handled It! with Arwen Becker

Arwen Becker highlights women from different areas of study, ethnicities and backgrounds, who openly share with her one of the worst moments in their life. They go back to that rock-bottom moment, how it was overcome, what she learned and how beauty was brought forth from those ashes. When others crumbled, she persisted. Women are experts at handling adversity and severe challenges. When her back is against the wall and all reasonable options have been exhausted, all that is left is her sheer will to pull herself out of bed one more time and to charge forth like Joan of Arc. She is a victorious, strong, determined woman who overcame what others believed would be her undoing. Arwen Becker is a National Speaker, Author, Entrepreneur, Wife, Mother and Athlete, but in the valleys of her life, she battled many life-altering challenges ranging from; growing up in an alcohol and pornography laden home, abandonment, financial devastation as a child and adult, betrayal, imposter syndrome (just to name a few). She found freedom in vulnerability when she began to share her hurt, short-comings and failures, and desires other women to experience the same. Talking through these truly tough moments, Arwen knows you will find hope in the inspirational and empowering stories of these women. You are not alone, and your brokenness is a gift to you and, more importantly, others you meet in the future. She Handled It, So Can You!

The Love of God is Everything with Arwen Becker

Just when she thought that 2021 had presented enough challenges to deal with, Arwen’s left arm started going numb. In addition to finding out that both of her parents were diagnosed with cancer, and supporting them as best she could, now Arwen needed medical attention as well. After several hours of testing, the E.R. doctors thought Arwen had a blood clot or was potentially suffering from a heart attack before discovering that she had developed a rare condition called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. And if that wasn’t enough, shortly after receiving this diagnosis, her entire household tested positive for COVID-19. Physically and mentally exhausted, she curled up, bawled her eyes out, and asked, “God, how much more can I handle?” And as you’d imagine, the answer was she can handle all of it. In this episode, Arwen explains how “she handled it” and why she’s decided to take a pause from the podcast, how her faith carried her forward in a very challenging year, and the beauty of letting go of expectations to become the person she’s truly excited to be. A Grateful Life is Our Responsibility with Angela Henderson

In just eighteen months, Angela Henderson lost four very important people in her life. On Christmas Day, her grandmother died. On Mother’s Day, she lost her brother, and on the following New Year’s Day, a father-figure in her life had also passed away. And two weeks later, one of her close friends was killed on a highway when a piece of a boat flew through his windshield and struck him in the head. Having gone through that much loss and tragedy in such a short period of time would be too much for a lot of people. But these significant losses didn’t stop her from wanting to help others. Angela Henderson is an international award winning business coach for women who helps women in business get all the pieces in place to have consistent 5 figure months and then onto 6/7 figure years without burning out in the process, through her group business coaching or her Mastermind for women. In today’s conversation, Angela opens up about taking responsibility for the things that have happened to her over the last several years, making space to grieve, and how to show up for your family, your clients, and yourself in the toughest of times. Current Problems Are Always Temporary with Arwen Becker

In late February, Arwen’s 80-year-old father fell down the stairs. When he saw the doctor to find out what kind of damage had been done, they learned he’d fractured part of his neck–and also discovered he had metastasized cancer. Later that very same day, her mother found out that she had breast cancer. They say that bad things come in threes, but sometimes, it’s even more than that. Especially in a year that already has many challenges that are beyond our control. So what do you do when everything seems to go wrong at the same time? You just have to stay positive and know that you can handle it, if you put your mind to it. In today’s episode, Arwen talks about overcoming adversity, whether it be dealing with the COVID crisis when it hits home, losing longtime friends and colleagues, and feeling like the blows are never going to end. She talks about making space to heal, and what it means to make it to the other side–and the mindset that will help carry you there. Self-Care is Your Birthright with Katie McDonald

In the corporate world, Katie McDonald was trapped in an endless, unwinnable race. She was selling advertising to huge corporations and in 45 national publications, but she was selling her soul in the process. She wasn’t sleeping. She stayed up all night thinking about the next sale, what she could do differently, all the ways she was failing, and why nothing would ever be enough. The more she pushed, the more her body acted up–and eventually, she couldn’t pretend anymore. When Katie left corporate life, she found herself in the depths of overwhelm, depression, and illness. In her healing, she created the b.nourished program–an executive wellness program designed to foster mindfulness, peace of mind, and productivity influenced by her personal recovery and decades of research. She now helps entrepreneurs and executives get things done without coming undone. She has won the Top 50 Inno on Fire Award, and has spoken for many clients including Facebook, Swarovski, CVS Health, and United Way, among many others. In this episode, Arwen and Katie talk about why so many people view self-care as time that should be spent getting things done, how that was once true for both of them and how self-care really is the key to personal and professional success. Overcomer Playlist Recommendation Lizzo - Soulmate Pearls of Wisdom You don’t need to be rescued. Only you can save yourself. You don’t have to earn your place in the world. It doesn’t require a constant churning and burning to justify your place. Repairing your relationship with yourself is the most important thing you can do. Reinvention After Major Head Injury with Kathleen Klawitter

While walking down the cart path on a golf course, LPGA instructor Kathleen Klawitter was struck in the head by an errant speeding golf ball. In her words, “It felt like a railroad tie had driven straight through my skull and out my left eye socket.” The pain was so excruciating that it felt like a bowling ball had landed on her head and shimmied through her whole body. She had to relearn how to speak, read, write, and drive. She used her own body, mind, and spirit modalities to reprogram her brain and reinvent herself to achieve a true normal–something she’s written about in her memoir, Direct Hit. Now, she’s a resilience expert and visionary coach, and she teaches her High Five System to help people access their inner wisdom and guidance, tap into their femininity, and balance their brains to improve their personal performance. In today’s conversation, Kathleen joins the podcast to share the story of the injury that changed her life, her road to recovery with help from the people that rallied around her as she healed, and the three key things she learned along the way. Overcomer Playlist Recommendation Whitney Houston - One Moment in Time Pearls of Wisdom Use your inner guidance because when your core communication center is taken out, figuring things out becomes much more difficult. From Victim to Victorious with Jessica Conness (Repost)

After 24-year-old Jessica Conness told her then-husband that rent was three months behind, he picked her up and threw her through the glass dining room table. When child protective services arrived later that day, they told her that the next time the police were called, they would take custody of her infant daughter. She knew at that moment, for her daughter’s sake, she had to break the cycle of domestic abuse she had been suffering for years. In her first marriage, Jessica suffered verbal and physical abuse at the hands of her then-husband, but it took time to end the relationship and leave for good. Since then, she’s gone on to happily remarry, build a beautiful family, and live life on her terms. Today, Jessica joins the podcast to tell the story of how she escaped that abusive relationship, how she rebuilt her self-worth, and what she learned over the course of her harrowing five-year journey. Overcomer Playlist Recommendation Phillip Phillips - Tell Me a Story Pearls of Wisdom There is power when you acknowledge there is life after abuse Why abuse breaks people down - and how counseling helps rebuild.
