Showing Up as Yourself with Professor of Sport Psychology Lindsey Blom

Madam Athlete

On today’s episode, I’m talking to Sport Psychology Professor Dr. Lindsey Blom about showing up as yourself.

Lindsey is the current president of the Association for Applied Sports Psychology (AASP) and a professor of sport and exercise psychology at Ball State University. Her work focuses on using sport for social change to promote peace at the individual, community, and international levels. From the outside, it looks like Lindsey has pursued this path with laser-sharp focus, but she always had some doubts on the inside. It wasn’t until much later on that Lindsey realized the full value of showing up as her full self in her career.

We talk about:

  • How Lindsey learned to recognize her own strengths and passions, just like she had done with students and mentees, and show up as her true self in her work.
  • How prioritizing your own self-care includes accepting when others need to prioritize their own self-care as well.
  • How Lindsey overcame the feeling that she or her research were not good enough and stopped comparing herself to others.
