Silvy Kalra is working on weekends to empower women by helping them learn self-defense‪.‬ The Vision-Nari Podcast

    • Society & Culture

In thirteenth episode, the Vision-Nari is Silvy Kalra, a communications professional, activist, and a journalist. Silvy’s the founder of FightHer - An initiative that conducts workshops to teach girls and women including domestic workers basic self defense techniques. Being a journalist she often worked at odd hours and felt anxious traveling back home alone at night in cabs. That was when she first realised she wanted to learn self defense. She started organising self-defence classes which were slowly joined by the domestic workers in her neighbourhood.

Tune in as Silvy talks about her vision with FightHer and how she’s expanding this initiative so that more people become aware of self-defence techniques. If you’d like to organise a self-defence class in your neighbourhood, contact Silvy at silvy.kalra@fighther.org.
