Fundamental Testing 1.1 What is Testing? >Software testing is to discover defects and evaluate the quality of software testing. >Misunderstanding about testing it consist of executing (running code), and verifying the test object. >Testing may be dynamic or static >Testing not only technical activity but also needs to be planned, managed, estimated, monitored and controlled. 1.2 Test Objectives >Evaluating work products like requirements, user stores, designs and code >Triggering failures and finding defects >Ensuring required coverage of a test object >Reducing the level of risk of inadequate software quality >Verifying requirements have been fulfilled, test object complies with legal and regulatory requirements. >Providing information to stakeholders that allow to make decisions >Building confidence in the quality of the test object >Validating whether the test object is complete and works as expected by the stakeholders 1.3 Testing and Debugging >Testing and debugging are separate activities >Testing can trigger failures caused by defects in the software object (dynamic testing) or directly find defects in the test object (static testing). >When dynamic testing trigger failure, debugging find cause of failure (defects), analysis the cause and eliminate. >Debugging work around reproduction of failure, finding root cause and fixing. >When static testing identifies a defect, debugging concerned removed it
