In the first episode, the story of the hijacking is told. Evidence is given that proves Walter R. Reca was the real D.B. Cooper. Included are actual audiotaped recordings of Walter Reca telling his best friend, Carl Laurin, that he is, in fact the actual hijacker. Walter also confessed to his niece, Lisa Story. Walter Reca also dictated a confession in 2014, during the last year of his life.
