Episode 30 : The Replacements ”Tim” & ”Tim : Let It Bleed Edition” (Ed Stasium Remix) w/ special guest Sal Cannestra

Hey! We are posting this new episode on Mats bass player Tommy Stinson's birthday so first and foremost, Happy Birthday to Tommy!

What better way to celebrate than to dig into the 1985 classic major label debut by the Replacements, "Tim". We dig into the songs and discuss the new 2023 remix now that we've had some time to live with it. We brought on our friend Sal who you may remember from such episodes as "Episode 8 : Sal Cannestra talks the Replacements". We had a great time talking about the record with Sal, who was able to experience the album in real time so it added a great perspective.
    Anyway, dig in!
P.S. as mentioned in the episode, here's a couple of streaming links to some of the albums mentioned. Give 'em a test play then buy some copies and support your local record shop!
    Teenage Fanclub "Nothing Lasts Forever"
Wolves In The Throne Room "Celestial Lineage"
    Sumerlands "Dreamkiller"
    SUN ORGAN "Candlelight Showertime"
Labi Siffre "Crying, Laughing, Loving, Lying"
    Sal Cannestra "Department of Amusement"

Love the podcast

Could use a few more Replacements episodes. You guys were trying to think if any of the Twin Tone stuff was recorded outside of BlackBerry Way. That would be Hootenanny which was recorded on a 24 track mobile unit in a warehouse in MPLS.

The big clear up is Pleased To Meet Me was recorded digitally. While Jim Dickinson might’ve been old school and analog might’ve been something he used in the last. By PTMM time Jim was all in on digital recording. All kinds of stuff on this in Trouble Boys.

Something To Du Podcast

Given that these two bands are both on my personal Mt. Rushmore of music, I thought I had read-heard-listened to it all, but this podcast really is a must listen if you are into these bands or this era of punk / alternative music. I’m about half way through the shows, and its one of the rare podcasts where I really look forward to listening to new episodes.

The guys have a deep knowledge of the two bands and the history, but first

Great podcast

I really enjoy hearing these guys talk about two of my favorite bands in the same way I would with my friends. Keep it going!
