The pace of change the podcast adtech industry is undergoing is staggering. The implications for podcasters, hosting providers, podcast listening app developers, and even advertisers and agencies are enormous. And so are the profits.

Presented as a companion but stand-alone version of the weekly newsletter of the same name, each episode of Sounds Profitable will be a fluff-free experience for you. Along with industry experts, I'll help you understand how you can take advantage of podcast adtech to stay ahead of the curve and, well... make more money as more money from advertising pours into podcasting. That Sounds Profitable, right?

Assumptions and conventional wisdom will be challenged. Easy answers with no proof of efficacy will be exposed. Because the thinking that got podcast advertising close to a billion dollars annually will need to be drastically overhauled to bring in the tens or hundreds of billions of dollars podcast advertising deserves.

So join me, Bryan Barletta, as I bring to you Sounds Profitable, the podcast companion series. It's part of the PodNews network, and if you're not already reading my newsletter, then you should be.

The Sounds Profitable podcast started impulsively as a way to test out the amazing ad tech I talk about. It's always been important to me that the people who talk about the technology know how to use it hands on and absolutely know what their clients experience. Now after 30 episodes and just finishing up our first year of Sounds Profitable as a newsletter, we're taking a month to completely reformat and improve the podcast to make it a better listening experience.

For the month of September I wanted to share with you four episodes you may have missed. And of course, ask you to please take our survey, at podcast.study/soundsprofitable . Without your feedback, we couldn't have made the improvements we're planning.

Understanding if your ad is working is absolutely critical. Brand Lift studies help you know if they are working. Tom Webster and Edison Research do a phenomenal job of telling you just that.

Heather Osgood of True Native Media and I really explored the value of dynamic ad insertion and why every publisher should be focused on implementing it. Heather was one of the first people to have me on her podcast, The Podcast Advertising Playbook, and I'm always excited to talk more about podcast ad tech with her.

Bryan: Making podcasts, learning curves and new beginnings. That's what we're talking about this week on Sounds Profitable with me. Bryan Barletta.
This episode is brought to you by chartable attribution, analytics and awesomeness. Go to charitable.com for more details.
I know that you're listening to Sounds Profitable because podcast ad tech is important to you, but it's important to me that you are kept up to date on the latest news from the entire podcast industry to help with. Here's what happened last week? No matter when you're listening from James Cridlin at pod news
Sounds Profitable, started as a newsletter and grew into being a podcast around six months. Now on our 30th episode, I'm talking with two people behind the scenes that help create Sounds Profitable. The podcast producer, Evo, Terra, and editor, Ian Powell joined me on this week's episode to talk about the long road.
That was the first season of Sounds Profitable and what we have to look forward to for the future. Okay. Hey, so this week I'm very excited. We have Ian en Evo here, the two guys, specifically responsible for this podcast, even existing. Uh, welcome to the show. Thanks buddy.
    Evo: Thanks for having us,
Bryan: Bryan. I think this might be the first time that we've done three people.
On the podcast for like the actual interview part. So it will be real fun. Ian, make sure that nobody talks over each other. Yeah. I can't
Ian: wait for all of this crosstalk. I'm going to have to edit out, especially cause we're all a bunch of loud mouths. This will be really good. That's very true.

Tracking Podcast Ad Performance That's Hard To Track w/ Omer Jilani

There's two sides to attribution. Hang out with Bryan and Omer as they talk about the great feeling of helping creators get the revenue they need to keep their visions going, by getting them good attribution.

Bryan: Collaboration, alternative attribution, and innovation. That's what we're talking about today on Sounds Profitable with me, Bryan Barletta.
this episode is brought to you by chartable attribution, analytics and awesomeness. Go to Chartable.com for more details. I know that you're listening to Sounds Profitable because podcast ad tech is important to you. But it's important to me that you are kept up to date on the latest news from the entire podcast industry to help with that.
Here's what happened last week. No matter when you're listening from James Cridland at Podnews,
the article I wrote about alternative attribution, which I've linked in the description I discussed, what you should be doing in order to get consistency and to drive the most. My old friend, Omer Jilani from Claritas came by to talk about the other side of that sort of attribution and how amazingly cool it is to help creators generate profit, to keep their creative visions running well, Omer, thank you so much for being here.
    Omer: Thanks so much,
Bryan: Bryan. Nice to be here. Yeah. Nice to have you here. So for those of you, this is the first time you're interacting with Omer. Omer usually doesn't sound like this. He wanted me to kick off and let you know, he kinda threw out his voice a little bit and he didn't listen to my latest article or read my latest.
How about microphones? So we're going to have to get him to expense a new microphone, but, uh, Omer OMERS here from Claritas, me and Omer have worked together for, we worked together for six years. Right? You came on when we were at, at Kieran and then we became barometric. And then we split off when ad Deron was acquired and barometric was its own thing for like a stressf...

Incredible ad tech learning

This has helped me understand the advertising side to podcasting. It’s put in such a way that even the dumbest of humans, me being that, can understand and follow along.

Great production. Great ideas.
