Speaking Of Love Podcast

I created this podcast in honor of my late father, Herman McKalpain, Jr. He was once a sports radio show host on WGPR in Detroit. His show was called “Speaking Of Sports” - which is the inspiration behind the name of my podcast “Speaking Of Love” My dad committed suicide on March 2, 2020. My purpose and my mission is to spread love and raise awareness for suicide prevention in honor of my dad.

Born and raised in a Brooklyn, New York housing project, Bill Newsome discovered early on that he was destined for greatness. Excelling in school and fueled by a passion for basketball, he embraced the challenges of his neighborhood with determination and drive. His academic achievements led him to a successful career with the NYC Employees Retirement System, where he dedicated his time to helping countless individuals, including high school students, secure their futures. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bill has remained deeply committed to his community. As a volunteer basketball coach at his local recreation center, he continues to mentor and inspire young athletes, passing on the same discipline and passion that shaped his own life. In 2024, Bill embarked on a new chapter—retirement and authorship. His book, When Love Calls, You Better Answer, is a heartfelt reflection on his life, lessons, and the profound impact of love. Today, he joins us to share his incredible journey—one of resilience, success, and, most importantly, love. Please join me in welcoming Bill Newsome!

    Welcome to Speaking Of Love Podcast. I am so excited to interview today's guest! Clay Boura is a loving husband and father of three residing in The Mitten State. At an early age, Clay developed a love for the arts. Whether he was creating new cartoon characters or writing wild, imaginative stories, he knew that some day art would become a part of his future. And over the years, his love and passion for the arts has continued to grow. Originally, Clay's dream was to become a cartoonist and have his very own cartoon strip in the newspaper alongside the famous Charles Schulz (Peanuts), Jim Davis (Garfield) and Bill Amend (Fox Trot) whom he idolized. However, after becoming a father and seeing how much enjoyment his children got when he read them bedtime stories, he decided he wanted to become a children's book author and illustrator. Becoming a published Author quickly became Clay's dream and he focused all of his attention on accomplishing that dream. And through the love and support of his family, Clay was able to achieve his dream and become a self-published Author!
