    First Tenacious D Album (2001)

    First Tenacious D Album (2001)

Back in 2001, two triple threats decide to start the most epic comedy rock duo of all time. The threats: Jack Black and Kyle Gass. The duo: Tenacious D. We dig into the hits, the skits, and the s***s that comprise the group's first, and titular, record. Plus, we talk about foot stuff, teeth stuff, Garf stuff, and so much stuff. We even play I See What You Did There! What if we had the power to move you? That might have to be it... We don't want to kill a yak. Not today anyway.

    First Human Head Transplant (2017)

    First Human Head Transplant (2017)

Heads will roll on this newest episode of Debut Buddies! We're diving into Sergio Canavero's quest to one-up the movie Face/Off by popping someone's head on another person's body! (Don't worry, they won't be using it at the time.) He claimed it was successful in 2017! (Also, he's moved onto just boring old brain transplants now, maybe?) Technically, anything is possible! (And he loves to sew mouse heads to rats for... "science".) (I'm sure it's fine.) (Totally, totally fine.) We also play I See What You Did There, and check in on the old Mouthgarf Report!

    First Mamma Mia! (2008)

    First Mamma Mia! (2008)

Here we go... for the first time! Nate's never seen Kelly's favorite movie, 2008's Mamma Mia! starring Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard, Christine Baranski, and so many more, so he watched it! We talk ABBA, island paradises, Greek mythical allusions, good singing, bad singing, and living deliciously. Plus, we check in on the old MouthGarf Report, and even play a little I See What You Did There!

First K-Pop - Seo Taiji and Boys (1992) with Julia Clausen

First K-Pop - Seo Taiji and Boys (1992) with Julia Clausen

We didn't know that much about K-Pop going into this episode of Debut Buddies, but damn if we didn't luck out to have K-Pop lover and expert Julia Clausen on as our guest! Julia (Book Club with Julia and Victoria) gives us a temporal rundown of K-Pop's origins (Seo Taiji and Boys), it's political and social ramifications for South Korea's youth (and society as a whole), and a thoughtful survey of the generations of K-Pop that have emerged since 1992. This one's gonna leave you amped.

    First Board Game (2600s BC)

    First Board Game (2600s BC)

Get ready to get board! Kelly, Chelsea, and Nate explore the FIRST BOARD GAME, which might be The Royal Game of Ur OR Senet OR Mancala... OR it could even be YOU! No... that's silly. It's not you. It's definitely one of those three games we just listed. We discuss games we've loved, and even almost kinda invent our own! Plus, there's some sweet sounds in the MouthGarf Report, and an especially gamely I See What You Did There!

First Studio Ghibli Film - Castle in the Sky (1986)

First Studio Ghibli Film - Castle in the Sky (1986)

Get ready for a particularly animated episode of Debut Buddies. We discuss the FIRST STUDIO GHIBLI FILM, luminary Hayao Miyazaki's brilliant Castle in the Sky (1986), with two kinds of dubs and one kind of subs! Join us for an exploration of whimsy, sky pirates, chill robots, and perennial allegories about technology, power, nature, and humanity. Plus, we premiere our NEW MouthGarf Report song, and get to SEE(ing) What Each Other Did There! It's time to recapture the joyous experience of being transported by the movies!

Whimsical, witty and sometimes wonderful

I love the way the trio plays off each other in this, mostly irreverent and totally pointless. Comedy show that accidentally might teach you a little bit of meaningless history. A nice brain break from the chaos of planet earth.

Interesting, entertaining, and you’ll learn something

I’ve followed Nate through his shows. I enjoy this shows formats just as much as the others. You will always learn something new in Debut Buddies.

So fun!

Can’t believe they gave these clowns a podcast, and yet….. I am compelled. They’re dumb, but in a good way, like relatable. We love to see it!
