Empathic Pet Relationships

At its core, the word empathic comes from the word Empathy. Empathy is generally described as the ability to take on another person’s perspective, to understand, feel, and possibly share and respond to their emotional experience. This can be a gift, allowing us to connect deeply with loved ones, but it can also be a challenge, especially in a world that can feel overwhelming. Sometimes it can feel hard to be around others if you have a strong empathic ability. Did you realize that pets can be empathic as well? They are uniquely attuned to your emotions and have the ability to sense what you’re experiencing. When you suffer a loss, they grieve alongside you, showing their own emotions in the process. Pets express empathy and compassion, especially when they snuggle with you during times of sadness or illness. They truly know, understand, and care about your feelings. The Gift of Love

This past summer a neighborhood cat deposited her three kittens in our back yard. Hear the story unfold as we surprisingly discovered these three tiny kittens who were feral and sick. All three suffered with hunger, vomiting and diarrhea. Their mother had entrusted us with their care. Our family stepped forward to foster these three and provide them with vet medical care. The results? The gift of love.
