There's more than one way to be a spiritually minded woman who wants to make and keep covenants, know her Savior and make it back home. Yes, there are essential CHECKPOINTS on the covenant path, but there are NO CHECKLISTS with a million checkboxes you must check off.

Each week on the Spiritually Minded Women podcast I’ll be sharing insights about how to embrace YOUR journey on the covenant path with CHECKPOINTS instead of CHECKLISTS.

    Love

    Love

One of my favorite talks from the April 2020 general conference was by Sister Joy Jones. She shared about the roles of covenant-keeping women in the Restoration. Sister Jones said, “In the final analysis of women’s continuing roles in the Restoration, and for us all, what role is preeminent? I testify that it is to hear Him, to follow Him, to trust Him, and to become an extension of His love.”This season on the podcast we have talked about each of these four roles that Sister Jones called “preeminent.”

In episode 10, the final episode in this series, I’m focusing on the last role “to become an extension of His love.”

You’ll hear what happened when I found a teenaged girl wandering on the side of the road in deep snow, what the story of the Nephites and the Anti-Nephi-Lehis in the Book of Mormon teaches us about Christ-like love, and thoughts on how keeping our covenants can help us show up for others with love instead of judgement, gossip and pride.

Thank you so much for joining me this season on the Spiritually Minded Women podcast. I hope by listening to these episodes you have come closer to the Savior. I hope you have come to know more fully that your own journey has value and that the things your journey allows you to contribute are unique and important.
You can embrace your journey on the covenant path with checkpoints instead of checklists.
    I’m cheering you on!!!

    Purpose

    Purpose

Can you be guided to know what your purpose is and what your personal journey on the covenant path should look like?

    Absolutely.

Listen to hear how you can shift your thinking to see your flexible, less-defined path as a Latter-day Saint women as evidence your Heavenly Parents have confidence in you.

Most of this episode is devoted to talking about Mary, the mother of Jesus. I discuss why you are also “highly favored” like Mary. You’ll also hear what Mary’s example teaches you about how to ask faith-filled questions and trust God will help you know what your divine mission is and how to fulfill it.

    Repentance

    Repentance

When I first started planning episodes for this season, I knew there had to be one on repentance because sin is something every one of us will experience on our journey on the covenant path. You can’t move forward without repentance.

Listen to hear the relationship between repentance and change. I share how I learned that repentance isn’t something you save up or only use for the “big stuff” (whatever that is!). Repentance is a beautiful gift from our loving Savior we can use and cherish every day.

    Comparison

    Comparison

Comparison probably comes so naturally to you in your journey on the covenant path, that it almost feels instinctive, but it doesn’t have to be that way. What can you do to overcome comparison?
In episode 7, I’m giving you three thoughts to avoid comparison that come from King Benjamin in the Book of Mormon.
King Benjamin’s ideas stem from Mosiah 3:19 and include:
Listening to the Holy Ghost Using the atonement of Jesus Christ Developing Childlike and Christlike Attributes Plus, you’ll hear one more thought from me about how to avoid comparison and choose love for yourself and others in your journey–embrace your unique mission.
Comparison doesn’t have to be part of your path. Listen in to hear how you can put off this natural tendency and embrace your own journey.

    Commune

    Commune

Let’s imagine you and I are going to lunch together. We pick a delicious restaurant, sit down and order our food. Before our food even arrives, I start telling you about my life. I tell you my problems and the things I’m worried about. I throw in some of the things that I’m feeling grateful for into the conversation. Finally, I ask you for some help with some tough questions I am having.  But before you can even get a word in, I tell you goodbye.  I throw my purse over my shoulder and I am out the door, in my car and on with my day before you even have a chance to say anything back to me.
This scenario sounds a little ridiculous, right? I mean, who does that? But, let’s think of this situation in a little different way.
Have you ever had a conversation with God that was a little like our imaginary lunch date?
It’s easy to get comfortable with rote prayers, but what if you could take your prayers from routine and one way to truly communing with God in an intimate way?
In this episode, I dive in and share thoughts about how to commune with God as well as practical ways you can make your prayers more meaningful.

    Confidence

    Confidence

In your journey on the covenant path, you’re probably going to experience fear, doubt, lack of hope and uncertainty you’re going the right way. But at the same time, it is also possible to gain confidence and keep moving forward.
In the episode you’ll hear how repentance, remembering, using the Holy Ghost, having charity and looking to Christ will help you. You can use Christ’s power and gain confidence to combat the opposition, weakness and sin you’re encountering in your journey on the covenant path.

Greatly inspired.

I just started season 4 discussing checkpoints instead of checklists and I haven’t put it down since. I went back and marked some scriptures and wrote down some thoughts to ponder on as well. I listened at the gym this morning, in the pickup line for kids and now while folding laundry. I’m about half way through this season but feel so inspired to study each area more in depth when I am through listening. I hope to gain a more personal relationship with Heavenly Father in my own personal way and have great inspiration on where to start. I love Remember and Commune so far but each episode makes me want to learn more.

I binge listen

I’ve been binge listening to this podcast since I found it last month. Crying over the dishes as I listen during housework. It’s been encouraging and uplifting hearing other women’s stories. I’ve learned so much.
