    STA-033: Bro. Ture- Remembering Chadwick Boseman and the Story of the Black Panther

    On this episode of. the Speak To After Podcast we are joined by Bro. Ture.  Ture is the Atef of the Pya Kule Afrakaltural Reclamation Center and the Chief Operations Manager of the Pya Kule Design Group.  A graduate of Cheyney University with a B.A. in Psychology, Ture was on the National Deans List and Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges. Fellowships and Research were conducted at Temple University and Bryn Mawr College. Ture has received citations from the United States Agricultural Department and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Ture was a recipient of Alpha Kappa Mu National Honors and W.W. Smith Charitable Scholarship. A former Teacher in the public school system, a Mental Health Provider and a Cultural Behaviorist, Ture has been actively involved in community education. Ture's work has provided him with the opportunities to visit Namibia, Kenya, Germany, France, England, The Bahamas, Canada and much of the United States. Ture is also a long-time comic book collector, with a deep and abiding love of Marvel's Black Panther. He is a frequent contributor to Reginald Hudlin's Entertai meant forum.     Ominira Adulawo! Abibifahodie! The Vanguard, United Front, Asafo Gang is back!!! In this episode we talk with previous STA guests The General, Bomani Mayasa and Ambassador O, Omowale Mayasa, of the Hip Hop formation known as United Front to discuss the release of their EP, "Cipha In The Field For Manhood Papers," tomorrow- Juneteenth- as the build-up to the release of their new album "Harriet's Shotgun" on August 14, 2020.  "Cipha In The Field For Manhood Papers,"  can be purchased exclusively at the United Front website below. United Front is an Afrikan-centered/Revolutionary Musical unit hailing from New York City. U.F was founded by Bomani Ikemba Mayasa (a.k.a BomaniUFG), in the interest of bringing together like-minded artists under one banner regardless of (Afrikan)Ideology or spiritual practice.  Aside from talent, members are required to be involved in a community based/revolutionary organization or be involved in some aspect of nation-building. The quality and integrity of the music is not just based on how it sounds but the authenticity of its creators. United Front has Thus far released 7 CDs.  United Front prides itself on setting themselves apart from typical hip-hop musick by coining what they do A.I.M (Afrikan Insurrektion Muzik). The quality and content of the music rivals that of the "best" commercial music has to offer but focuses solely on contributing songs for frontline Afrikans committed to the destruction of racism/white supremacy and the unification of Afrikans across the diaspora. United Front is gearing up to release a new Ep entitled: CiphaInTheFieldForManhoodPapers, a collection of songs that showcases the collective's ability to work together and some solo contributions.   Regardless of the current trends and happenings in the world, UNITED FRONT stays focused on providing the soundtrack to Afrikan Self-determination and Sovereignty.  join us this Friday at 7 PM EST for this Asafo conversation.     STA-026: Baba Kindu Shabazz

    Born in Petersburg Va, Baba Kindu joined the US Army which enabled us to travel and live in Kentucky, Germany and before settling in Tacoma Washington. He attended and played football at Wenatchee Valley College in Central Washington state. He also served in the US Army and National Guard from 1990-96.  Baba Kindu has been a community and  grass-root organizer in the Seattle – Tacoma Washington area (founding the Black Family Foundation, an active participant in Seattle Kwanzaa Planning Committee, Kemet Temple, Nation of Islam 'Muhammad Study Group', Pan-African Youth Student Movement, Tacoma Local Organizing Committee, the Each 1 Teach 1 Study Group, The North West Chapter of the Associate Studies for Classical Afrikan Civilization, Kemetic Warrior Manhood development Training Rites of Passage Program).  Baba Kindu currently resides in Gabriel Prosser City (aka Richmond, VA). He is the father to 6 children and married to Okomfo Afia Pomaa Adia Blackmon Shabazz. He is still dedicated to the proper education and liberation of Afrikan children.  Since moving to Richmond he still remains active. In September '05 he established the Richmond Kwanzaa Kollective, organized a Black History Month Lecture Series, which involved such prominent Afrikan Centered scholars such as Runoko Rashidi, and Ashra and Merira Kwesi, and Senghor Baye El of U.N.IA.,  facilitated Hip Hop 101 Forums at Virginia State University, as well as working with For The People Alliance, a Grassroot coalition dedicated to Conscious development of Afrikan people. For 14 years Bro. Kindu and his wife, Adia have facilitated Black Marriage Day RVA an annual program dedicated to celebrating and supporting Black marriages through marriage educational workshops.  Baba Kindu along with with his wife, Adia, have established Fahodi Shule Homeschool Cooperative who’s mission to properly educate their children as well as other children and families in the conscious community using an Afrikan Centered curriculum. In 2015 Kindu became a member of the Council of Independent Black Institutions and for the past two years has served as the co-facilitator of the renewed C.I.B.I. Science & Academic Expo. Kindu has also taught Hip Hop Social Studies and culture since 1996. Baba Kindu has co-facilitated Richmond’s first Maafa Kebuka Afrikan Spirituality Ritual and Convocation in 2014. He is also a  a member of Ankobea Abusua Society, National Shrine of Afrikans in American (NSAA) and the Richmond Family Collective, Abusua Pa.
