STAND UP AND CLOWN
One of the architects of LA’s current modern clown scene, Chad Damiani (aka The Clown Boss) explores the mercurial nature of this work — and how it can be applied to everything from improv to stand-up to life in general. A mix of interviews with artists that embody clown spirit and solo episodes where Chad offer opinions, instruction and (hopefully) morsels of inspiration. STAND UP AND CLOWN is named after Chad’s monthly show at LA's Elysian Theater (last Mondays at 9:30pm), where he ruthlessly live directs stand-up comics through a grueling gauntlet of modern clown work.

Great podcast with weird beeping issue
23 sept
Love the content! The only reason I am taking a star off is because I hate the beeping! Sometimes I have to stop listening to an episode because the beeping is so annoying. Just felt like I should leave a review so that maybe this issue can get fixed. Otherwise great stuff!
Just one Flaw (BEEP)

It’s a podcast loaded with fascinating looks at what it means to clown—and perform more generally. It contains a lot of information that’s useful for any actor. The interviews are fascinating too; everyone comes to clown in a completely different way and they’re a wild cast of characters. But. Starting in Season 2, there’s a little (BEEP) every time the host or a guest finishes a thought. (BEEP) Sometimes they can make it three or four sentences. Sometimes it’s after every sentence. It’s a baffling choice. (BEEP) Maybe it’s to make editing easier? (BEEP) At best it’s a mildly annoying experience, and at worst it makes an episode literally physically unpleasant to listen to. I’ve never had a situation like this—I *like* this show. I want to listen to this show! But each new beep feels like sandpaper being rubbed across my skin.
Fun podcast and live show

Stand Up and Clown (the podcast) is a great companion to Stand Up and Clown (the live show). Both are fun, insightful explorations of the joy and tragedy in art and life. Chad is an incredibly kind and generous person…I’ve seen him and many of his guest perform live in Los Angeles, so it’s great to hear them talk about their work and growth as performers. 4 stars because now I’m hearing phantom beeps in real life. Jim is missed, but glad he is busy on special assignment. JIM! JIM! JIM! JIM!
