Authors Love Readers, a Weekly Conversation on Writing
Authors Love Readers, hosted by USAToday bestselling author Patricia McLinn, is a conversation between authors about how and why they create stories. With questions contributed by readers. Quite a few podcasts are out there for aspiring and established writers, both on the craft and the business. This podcast, though, is for readers. The goal is to have authors on the show who write in all sorts of fiction genres. As a reader, it doesn’t matter which path to publication an author takes – independent, traditional, hybrid and other combinations. That’s not going to matter on Authors Love Readers, either. McLinn is the author of more than 50 books, including her ongoing murder mystery series, Caught Dead in Wyoming and Secret Sleuth, and the romantic suspense The Innocence Trilogy. She also writes romances (mostly contemporary, with a few historical), women’s fiction and nonfiction writers guides. She had 27 books in 25 years in traditional publishing. Having secured the rights back to a number of her earlier books, she began indie publishing in early 2010. That made her officially a hybrid author, since she also still had books under traditional contracts. In mid-2015 she left the final traditional publisher and has been happily 100% independent since. Interesting peek behind the author curtain

This podcast feels like you're a fly on the wall in a living room as two authors talk about their craft. You get to hear what motivated them to start writing and how they made a transition from that first book to a professional career. Like many of us, they had teachers or mentors who inspired them and at least one had that bad teacher who motivated the writer to prove her wrong. This is not just about romance writers but writers in lots of genres, and sometimes multiple ones, from mystery to YA to paranormal romance. In other words, something for everyone.
A nice peek behind the curtain

These interviews are an enjoyable visit in a vitural living room with my favorite authors. Particular love to learn what motivated them to start a writing career, or to pen a certain book. Some are motivated by good teachers and at least one by that bad teacher that you just want to prove is wrong! The podcast is not just romance authors, but also mystery, fantasy, young adult -- and sometimes the same author writes in multiples of those genres. Very interested,
Go inside writers' heads

When a novelist (Patricia McLinn) interviews novelists, you get much better questions than the usual "where do you get your ideas?" and "how long does it take you to write a book?" These are in-depth conversations about how writers create stories, characters, plots, and worlds that you believe in--as well as some fun digressions into writers' hobbies, fears, and obsessions.
