    Mick McGrory Says by Vincent Maguire

    When Myra is diagnosed with a terminal illness, she makes one final request to her longtime partner, Donald - to take her home across the water to their beloved island community to die. Though his fishing boat is deteriorating and barely seaworthy, Donald feels compelled to grant Myra's wish. After helping out at his friend Sanjiv's harborfront restaurant one last time, Donald sneaks Myra out of the hospital, much to the consternation of the well-meaning but officious pier master Hector. As Hector warns of the dangers, Donald remains resolute in navigating the perilous journey home with his ailing partner. Myra and Donald reminisce about meeting again after years apart as the boat sets off across the harbour and out to sea. With every ounce of the boat's strength needed to cross, the two rely on their profound connection to carry them through to the end. As Myra's health quickly declines, the island that had been home to a vibrant chapter of their lives together now promises a final resting place filled with closure and meaning.     After decades of being trapped in a controlling marriage, Mary attempts to assert independence. This change is catalyzed by an enigmatic local artist named Sean, who Mary hires to paint their home. When Mary unexpectedly returns home late one evening to retrieve her passport, her evasiveness rouses the suspicions of her retired judge husband, Ricky. Still groggy from alcohol and medication, Ricky misinterprets the situation and believes Mary has become involved with terrorism. As their argument escalates, deep marital tensions rise to the surface. Ricky critiques Sean's artwork as a fraud and questions his motives while expressing lingering hurt over believing his past affair with Mary's friend Helen was truly over. Stunned to learn Helen refused to aid Ricky during his recent heart attack, Mary realizes the depth of their dysfunctional relationship. With clarity of hindsight, she is determined to move forward independently of her husband's controlling ways. Their shattered marriage lies encapsulated in Sean's well-intentioned but inaccurate painting. This month's episodes are the last in season 1.     Once a successful Buddy Holly tribute musician, Andy faces the consequences of his ruthless ambition decades earlier, when he abandoned his band and girlfriend Beth to pursue fame in London. Their conversation confronts Andy with the repercussions of his selfish choices - Beth's anger and sense of betrayal, his best friend Shug's mental breakdown and destroyed future. Through interacting with Beth and his tour manager, Charlie, Andy must face brutal truths about the Faustian bargain he made trading relationships for fleeting fame.
