Story Salon Podcast

The stories range from very moving to very boring. They are all in need of better editing to tighten up their pace and tension. I find myself thinking, "hurry up and stop meandering over irrelevent details" as I'm listening. The hosts are very annoying because they ramble and then introduce each storyteller with hyperboles-- this one is "the best storyteller in the world," and every single storyteller is either "amazing" or "wonderful." Unfortunately the hyperbolic introductions set up the listener for disappoinment since most of the storytellers are only adequate. I realize that Story Salon wants to be nurturing, but when does being nurture equal filling everyone with hyperbole? I'm a big fan of The Moth, based in New York City, and now I understand why NYC is the literary capital of the U.S.: the Moth storytellers tell tight, well-edited stories. I say this sadly as a Los Angeles native. There's not enought time in this short life to listen to these meandering, verbose stories.

Personal stories told in an intimate setting, shared with the world. Highly recommended.
