G'day everyone, I hope you have been well! Sorry for my recent absence but life has been busy lately.

Just a quick episode to let you all know I am pausing the guest episodes until the end of the footy season. It's a hectic time at the moment and I want to channel my energy into coaching and relieve some of the mental load that the guest episodes have had on me recently.

Extra Sauce will be the constant in the meantime and I will also aim to have chats with the odd person on the weekly episodes to mix things up.

Good morning everyone, apologies for my absence of late on your Monday mornings but I'm back with another episode of Extra Sauce.

A pretty real chat today on my drive to work where I do a lot of my thinking.

We are in a mental health crisis in this country.

Recent statistics show that 8 Australians die by suicide every day, 75% of those are men.

So by the end of today, by the time you listened to this episode, someone has potentially taken their life.

We likely all know of someone who has taken their life and the massive impact this has on their loved ones.

The politician's won't help us. The change we want starts with us. We must take this seriously and start having real, meaningful conversations with each other about how we are feeling.

If we don't do this, then the stats stay the same.

We have to help our mates, we have to do it for those who have left us and for the future generations as well. Otherwise, more of us will die.

If you need support, reach out to a mate and on the flipside, if you know if someone who is likely struggling, hit them up for a chat.

And don't forget to reach out to the relevant support hotlines that we have in Australia as they can provide support at all hours. Also, if this episode brings up some bad thoughts, please reach out to your support network to talk about it.

Damn it's good to be back on the tools and sitting down chatting with awesome people again.

In this week's episode I wanted to re-visit past conversations where I have talked about daily journaling and how that has an impact in my life.

I have written 3 or 4 times so far this year and last week I finally added journaling back into my daily routine and can already for the positive change it has had on my mental health.

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you are all having a nice morning and had a nice weekend as well! We had Gather Round here in Adelaide and wow, what an event! Such an awesome vibe and I honestly think that it's the best sporting event in the country. If you're tossing up whether you should come to Gather Round in 2025, just do it. You won't be disappointed!

On to today's episode, I've been reading a wonderful book recently called The Culture Code by Daniel Coyle.

This is an excellent read if you're a sports coach or a leader in your work. It touches on how to create a sense of belonging for those you coach or lead and has real world examples as it delves into organisations such as the San Antonio Spurs, Google and Pixar

I highly recommend this book if you're wanting to improve as a coach or leader. I'll drop the link to where you can purchase.
