The Clockwork Game Design Podcast
The Clockwork Game Design Podcast is a functional strategy game design podcast hosted by game designer and author Keith Burgun. Featuring interviews with some of the biggest and most interesting names in game design and related fields.
In search of structure in game design.

Keith Burgun's perspective regarding game design is definitely worth listening to. Mostly due to the fact that he provides a more formal, perhaps academic view on ideas, mechanics, and design choices when making games. I haven't found that anywhere else.
One of the best game design shows

Keith is a thoughtful designer and critic. He has a strong yet developing point of view, and he talks openly about his failures. His efforts to build a more complete vocabulary for game design have been instructive to me as an amateur designer.
Great cast for open minded game designers

The host is not afraid to share his opinions on game design theory, which are almost always grounded in some form of reasoning or understanding. If you’re a fan of game design theory crafting, and aren’t afraid of listening to someone with a differing opinion, this is a must have cast! Keep up the great work 👍 Tyler Jones Lamestar Games
Good podcast with room to improve

This podcast is very new, but I appreciate the ideas put forth. The narrator uses it as a bit of a “soap box” to discuss his own ideas and seems a bit full of himself, but I don’t really consider being confident in your ideas a negative. I’d like it if he would talk about more concepts in existing popular games and what’s good or bad about them. While I enjoy hearing about his projects and getting his perspective I feel like theres some serious room to branch out. I’ll keep on listening because I feel like this podcast has yet to hit it’s full potential.
Just a soapbox

I'm starving for good game design content and quickly gave up on this podcast. Rather than talking about game design itself the author talks about how great his ideas are and how only his perspective is correct. This is made worse by using his own pseudo-intellectual definitions for terms used in game design; these terms by definition make a structure where only his approach is correct.
Actual Opinions on Game Design

I don’t usually like solo podcasts but I like this one. I care about the study of game design, and Keith is one of the few people out there expressing strong opinions about the fundamental formal properties of the medium. You’ll probably hear something you disagree with and that’s a good thing.
Big fan of 100 Rogues and Auro

Keith Burgun designed two of my favorite games, 100 Rogues and Auro. He’s a terrific game designer and interesting thinker. Don’t miss his appearance in Episode 47 of my Geek’s Guide to the Galaxy podcast.
All over the place

Uses the podcast as a soapbox to tell you how great his ideas are, which only occasionally relate to game design.
