Gigi was stalked by a man she met on Tinder. Their relationship progressed, yet due to Gigi being transgender, he insisted on keeping it concealed. One fateful night, the situation turned violent, prompting Gigi to flee and end the relationship.

He began a campaign of harassment, stalking her relentlessly, issuing threats, contacting her workplace, reaching out to her family, and resorting to blackmail by threatening to distribute intimate images.

The intensity of the stalking escalated when he fabricated details to obtain her flight information, intending to confront her in person.

    213. Single Mom Stalked

Charlotte is a single mom who was stalked by her child’s father.

Despite noticing warning signs in the relationship, the couple moved in together when she found out she was pregnant. The relationship was toxic and the abuse escalated to the point Charlotte knew the relationship was not salvageable. When she ended things, her ex started stalking her. He sent harassing messages to her friends and family and persistently followed her around town, all while she was still pregnant. Things became violent during a road rage incident, and law enforcement urged Charlotte to seek immediate protection with a restraining order.

EPISODE ENCORE: DAVE KROUPA (FEATURED IN LOVER, STALKER, KILLER ON NETFLIX)

In 2020, Jaimie and I spoke with Dave Kroupa, who was stalked for over four years by a woman who was impersonating his ex, Cari Farver, to cover up her murder.

If there’s a guest whose story we’ve featured in a past episode that you’d like us to revisit, email strictlystalkingpod@gmail.com or DM us on Instagram at strictlystalkingpod.

    212. Betrayal of Love: Stalking Sam

    212. Betrayal of Love: Stalking Sam

Sam was stalked by her ex-boyfriend.

Following high school, Sam started dating a soldier a few years older than her, but soon moved out of the area. Despite the geographical distance after her relocation, they maintained their relationship from afar. During their time together, he closely monitored her every move, demanded frequent video chats, incessantly texted her, and accused her of cheating. Eventually, he managed to infiltrate all her social media and bank accounts. Recognizing the toxicity of the relationship, Sam's family urged her to end it, triggering an escalation in his stalking behavior.

    211. Stalking & Assault: Surviving Violence

    211. Stalking & Assault: Surviving Violence

**The following episode of Strictly Stalking contains graphics depictions of domestic violence. Listener discretion is advised.**

Natalie is a survivor of domestic violence, attempted murder, and stalking perpetrated by her ex, a former Navy Seal.

She is a resilient, single mother who now faces the challenge of sharing custody of her three children with the very person who stalked and almost killed her. The challenges she faces as a survivor being mandated to co-parent with her stalker are immense.

Despite everything she’s been through, Natalie is not allowing herself to be defined as a victim, but rather a survivor. She is now stepping forward to share her truth, aiming to empower and help others who may be navigating a similar experience.

Like the show, but…

My empathy dissolves when the women— already seeing red flags and numerous signs that severe trouble is ahead— go ahead and have not one, not two but THREE children with their abuser/stalker!! (Looking at you, episode 211) Don’t add to the mess by bringing innocent children into it!

So scary what these survivors go through!

Disappointing trajectory

I started this podcast when it was brand new, taking off, and seemingly covering amazing stories of survivors and giving voices to those who are often ignored within our social justice systems. The first few seasons were amazing, most everyone’s stories were incredible to listen to and those episodes really saved my rating here. Well worth the time and listening.

What made this podcast so charming in the beginning was the coverage of everyday people’s stories, those who otherwise would’ve remained voiceless and powerless now had a platform to heal through story telling. The shift into big names, tik tok famous, celeb stories (people who already have a platform) has sucked the life out of this podcast for me.

Recently with exposure it seems like every episode is a plug for someone else. I understand sharing resources, and the desire to support others in their ventures, but I wish things were a little more selective in who gets this air time, and how often. Certain recent stories have not been compelling and I’ve questioned how much each story has been embellished by the teller in order to give themselves a more compelling background story for launching whatever book/podcast/business they’re starting.

I hope after whatever payouts/sponsorships they receive after this season the podcast finds its roots again.
