Stupid Things For Love with Scott Campbell

Hi, thanks for being here, my name is Scott Campbell. I’ve been tattooing for 27 years, and in that time, my job has been to carve pictures into the arms and legs and nooks and crannies of the entire spectrum of humanity. I’ve tattooed Mexican cartel families, feral punk kids, sunburnt tourists, billionaire art collectors, fancy Hollywood folks, and leaders of nations. Thousands of people have come into my studio because they had an idea or a feeling that was powerful enough that they didn’t want to let it go. They wanted that moment of their life to leave a physical mark on them that they could see and touch moving forward. A tattoo has aesthetic needs, but more importantly, should acknowledge the emotions or events that the wearer is looking to connect with. In order to give them the tattoo they are looking for, I have to listen to and relate to my clients. Whoever they are. And if I relate to someone for more than 45 minutes, I usually can’t help but love them. These are stories of a few of the people that this job has brought into my studio and affected the course of my own life.
