Although we all love Summer fun, we all also want a tidy space and sanity in our home and, let’s be honest, Summer break can bring some challenges.

When school is out and the kids are home for the Summer, there’s a definite change in the flow of our day and our tidy home may experience a little more mess. So if you find it difficult to keep a tidy home, this is the episode for you.

Today, Yamel is joined by Angie Jacobson, who is a professional organizer and mom to three beautiful children. Together they discuss what Angie does as a home organizer and share their tips and strategies to maintain an organized home during Summer break. They also discuss the mistakes you might be making that are leading your home to be more chaotic than it has to be.

In this episode, Yamel and Angie discuss:

  • Angie’s background, how she got into home organization and what the process of working with her looks like - from a judgement-free consultation, where Angie learns what is bothering you about the space, through to her either working with you on the project, or taking care of it herself to get your space organized.
  • Angie’s top tip when it comes to having an organized home during Summer break is to include your kids by turning it into a game, or by involving them in the decluttering process and allowing them to make the decisions as to what to keep, donate or toss.
  • Manageable strategies you can employ to stay on top of the mess, such as doing a quick clear up every night before bed, and even setting a timer to keep yourself focused.
  • The importance of instilling responsibility in your children, and ways to incentivise them to help keep the house organized.
  • Angie’s advice regarding the things that you might be doing wrong that could be contributing to chaos and clutter in your home, including introducing a toy rotation and delegating the toys to one area of the house so they don’t take over your whole home.
