The scripture situates us as audience to Solomon at the dedication of the Temple. We read of how all the elders and heads of the tribes of Israel gather for the momentous occasion as the ark of the covenant moves into the innermost room of the Temple, and then Solomon blesses the Temple. Solomon’s words invite us to contemplate the ways that God keeps God’s promises and how we might faithfully show our gratitude for God’s covenant-keeping nature. Sermon delivered on 1 Kings 8:22-24, 27-30 by the Reverend David J. Powers on October 27, 2024.
