Montana Voice
Stories and more. Season 3, with original music, is a reading of 'The Lie and the Aether,' an early version of what became the popular novel "Paper Targets" by Steve Saroff. Other seasons include stories that were originally traditionally published, interviews, and other interesting listening materials — highly recommended.

You have given me something I never thought I was looking for. My mother was an incredibly hard worker who took care of 10 people in the days before large stores and packaged everything. She grew our food, she dressed the deer and bear and moose to make sure they would last until next hunt. She did this with ease and from my 9 year old perspective happiness in her heart. I guess that’s why I felt my daughter deserved to have such a righteous persons name, because I knew with Joan attached to Kayla, she would be amazing. My mother struggled to keep us happy and comfortable in the disfuncional world our reality truly was. The one constant in my mothers life were the stories she read in her red book magazine. The times I would come home late from babysitting and she would have fallen asleep exhausted with her red book curled in her hand as she slept soundly. She never allowed us to throw them away. I asked one time what books she would like to read? Her response was, “ I don’t have time for books but i like a young writer in red book. He calms me. His tales take me away from the chaos.” I shrugged and carried on. As I grew into life I realized how hard my mothers struggle truly was. How hard betrayal broke her and she continued strong. Upon listening to your stories I would love to think I’m listening to the same young writer that brought her a small amount of peace in a hard existence. I am not sure you realize how grateful I am for your total influence on all the people important to me. Thank you.
