True Crime Obsessed

I have loved TCO for years, and bought Patrick’s book, followed the Golden Girls pod…. But things have changed. I adore Patrick, I feel like he has adult feelings that he has gained through adult experiences (adoption, marriage, poverty, imperfect parent, building a business). He did. It live in a protective shell so he experienced the gray area of life. Gillian has become vapid and narrow minded. Perhaps stemming from her sheltered existence? I used to align well with her thought until they became hardened and bitter. She even snaps at Patrick who laughs it if awkwardly - it makes me cringe. The chemistry has changed and not for the better. She will be the demise of this show

I love this show. I have been listening for years. I know after reading this they would say just to move on. But I truly do enjoy the content. However……lately it feel as if we are all getting lectured by GP for having different opinions. Even Patrick is not allowed to have a differing opinion. It is all about the way she feels and it is right. If Patrick dares to disagree she shoots daggers at him. This is supposed to be entertaining and lately I just feel as if we are being yelled at the whole time.

Do these 2 just yell over each other? He laughs at everything and not funny. Says a lot of “totallys” and constantly has breaks in the story so it’s hard to follow. Slow down, stop yelling and stop losing our attention.

I really like Patrick and his ability to look at all sides. Gillian however, goes on long-winded rants, jumps to conclusions, doesn’t allow Patrick to give anyone grace or disagree with her. She’s so hateful and divisive which isn’t helpful. She vilifies every opinion that isn’t her own. She’s trying so hard to make everything a statement on racism and demonizing every person trying to investigate. It’s exhausting—and I’m a person of color!! It used to be so much more light hearted and easy to listen to.
