Tackle and Tacos - A Fishing Podcast WCB Outdoor Podcasts

Jordan first started ordering from Carolina Fishing Tackle in maybe 2015 or so. The Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) for fishing is insane and ever evolving. In Japan, the bass waters are so pressured that anglers and lure makers are constantly being forced to come up with new techniques as the fish become sort of programmed and desensitized to the same old same old. This forces amazing / creative innovations. Japanese anglers are responsible for rigs like hover strolling, drop shotting, the tokyo rig, and on and on.
CFT has been at the forefront of bringing that innovation from Japan here to the US. They have deals in place to have JDM lure companies newest gear before it lands anywhere else. So when the chance came to have the owners on our show, WE JUMPED AT IT!

We always said we wanted our show to be "listenable" by experts and brand new anglers alike. I recently got a text from a friend who asked about what rod or rods he should invest as he's looking to get more into fishing. It got me thinking.
This episode is really two parts - rods, and lures. What do you NEED to get started? A couple rods and 10 must have lures. We really hope this helps with people who maybe have similar questions. The truth is that the world of fishing can be pretty overwhelming. So many rods, so many types of lures, where should you start?

We finally have our 1st derby of 2024 done! So we had to do a Before and After. If you've never heard one, basically we just record before the derby, give predictions and what not, then record again immediately after and see how it went and if we were even remotely close to what actually went down.

Not too terribly long ago I saw a really good commercial for a new group of rods from St Croix called the PHYSYX series. First off, the video is dope. Creative. Great editing. Good music. Super well shot. There is a fella who absolutely stole the show. He looked cool, looked REAL comfy with that rod (and Bates reel) in his hand, oh and he caught a near 9 pounder on video! I called Nate and asked him to find out who it was, of couse he already knew - THAT'S JOHNATHAN JONES - I responded, we gotta get him on the show.

So here we are with an awesome interview with an awesome angler! Family man, football stud, fearless boat driver, street corn on taco lover, and just a good / authentic fella!
