Take Up Space by Project Agape

Take Up Space is a platform for young Black individuals to take up space and talk about things that are relevant and important to us and things that we have been shunned from discussing due to the environment and circumstances we grew up in. Take Up Space is a platform that was created by survivors of Gender-Based Violence therefore our conversations are geared toward supporting survivors and giving young people a voice to speak their truth. S1 EP1: Taking Pride in Your Pleasure

Trigger Warnings: Sexual violence, misogyny, ownership, victim-blaming Welcome to Take Up Space! We are a group of Black survivors that love to community build and support other Black survivors (we also love to talk!) This podcast was created by the Project Agape team with cohosts - Founder and Director of Project Agape, Esther Fagbola and Project Facilitator Abiana Cudjoe. Project Agape is a Black-led organization that supports Black survivors through support services and community building and educates on gender-based violence.  This space is for you, its for us, its for every Black individual, who has had to dim their shine and limit their space. This space will discuss everything from boundaries, sex, pleasure, culture, community, society and Black joy. Today, we discuss misogyny, patriarchy and the way Black culture, specifically African culture has taught us that as Black women, we must focus on the male gaze when it comes to sex. We will discuss pleasure for Black women, ownership in our community, songs like LICK and WAP that have changed the game and allowed Black women to really own their sexuality and put our pleasure first.
