Jaime's Summer Replay - Eileen "Mama Fry" Shaklee
Hey, listeners join us for this week’s episode as we replay some of our favorite series throughout the summer. This week is Jaime ‘s pick! We loved having mama Fry with us at the table, so take a seat and join us!
Eileen “Mama Fry” Shaklee is an autism advocate, speaker, writer (sort of), and fundraiser. Her most important project to date is raising her 18 year old autistic son and getting him ready for a world that isn’t always ready for autism. She is married and lives in New Jersey.
We chat with Eileen about the early years after diagnosis, the holidays, and moving from childhood to adulthood for our kids. We also discuss her current project she is working on with Monmouth Ocean Foundation for Children fundraising programming for 21+ adults.
Word of wisdom you will find in the episode, Eileen reminds us to enjoy where we are right now with our kids because you can't go back. We loved talking with Eileen and her amazing advice and spirit are a breath of fresh air in our community give her a follow and learn more below.

Jenn's Summer Replay - Chelsey Hautz, Pediatric Occupational Therapist
Hey listeners, it’s that time again for our summer replay series and this week is Jenn‘s pick! Jenn chose to replay Chelsey Hautz. Chelsey is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist that was pivotal in Kya's development. This is a very informative episode so take a seat and join us!
Chelsey Hautz, MScOT, BKin, practices as a pediatric occupational therapist in Vancouver, Canada. She has lived and worked in Canada, the UK, and Hong Kong. She believes wholeheartedly that we are built for connection and the meaning we cultivate within our own bodies, with others around us, and within the environments, we occupy from who we become and how we make sense of our lives. Her curiosities about the constantly changing field of neuroscience and the powerful connection between brain and body have led her to pursue a variety of post-graduate courses. She is committed to the learning and unlearning it takes to practice within a paradigm that values neurodiversity, inclusion, and autonomy centering on children and families throughout the therapeutic process.
We were blown away by this interview with Chelsey, not only does she take the time to understand her own personal growth as a professional but reflects on the growth of the children she works with by tailoring her practice to each individual child.
Chelsey was a huge part of Jenn and Kya's autism journey and made a lifelong impact on both of them. We learned so much and could talk to Chelsey for hours. Wait till you hear how she explains what occupational therapy is and why it is so important. -
