Reviews complaining that these podcasts are half or mostly advertisements are blatantly false. Yes, there are ads. Yes, ads are inherently annoying, but quit the whining. It's okay for Talk North to try and earn some money through ad revenue. Just hit the button to skip ahead 30 seconds. That said, I don't see why Souhan and some of the hosts feel they have to have a personal relationship with every sponsor or personally use every product/service they offer. To quote another review, "Just play the advertisement." I only listen to the T-Wolves and two NFL podasts. Pretty solid. The hosts cover relevant topics and events and offer good insights, but sometimes they stumble around a bit and throw around a few too many cliches for my taste. But I suppose this is understandable since most of the hosts I listen to here are writers. I look forward to hearing them improve on the speaking as they gain more experience.
Great MN sports content
The Russo show is brilliant, Smalley’s is hugely informative, and Jon K is my third favorite. Not all of the shows are must listens for me, but the network’s variety is outstanding. Plus Jim works pretty seamlessly with a variety of personalities, which is an under-appreciated skill. Sure there are ads. There also are ads on network TV, where the content is also free. If you want free content with no ads, there are a gazillion crummy podcasts to choose from. That said, I would encourage changing up the spots a little more frequently. Still, a satisfied listener from the start.
Russo is an elite hockey mind... love his insight throughout the hockey season and especially during the off-season. Souhan should stick to newspaper or whatever it is he is good at.
